Principal Software Engineer

Description
- Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams to drive full cycle end-to-end development to deliver complex software solutions.
- Work in an Agile environment with business stakeholders, Product Owner, Solutions Engineer, and other software engineers to review and refine stories and execute on them using excellent engineering practices.
- Perform hands-on development and problem resolution, write clean, maintainable code, and perform peer code-reviews.
- Embrace and model engineering excellence and best practices.
- Contribute to the development and growth of the team.
- Be curious and innovative using new tools and techniques.
- Provide periodic off-hours production deployments and support.
- Work on messaging applications and API software development, design, and prototyping.
- Optimize performance for the applications.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 100%.
Employer will accept a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology or related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a Principal Software Engineer-related occupation.
Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology or related field and 7 years of experience in the job offered or in a Principal Software Engineer-related occupation.
Position requires demonstrable experience in the following:
- AWS services, including CDK, Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Step Functions, SQS, EventBridge,
- VPC and S3
- NodeJS.
- Typescript.
- REST APIs.
- GraphQL.
- Production support including troubleshooting production issues.
- Performance improvement of API's.
- Technical documentation including API specification and architectural diagrams.
- Demonstrated ability to design effective unit test cases or performance tests that cover all functional and non-functional requirements.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 100%.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
