Consultant, Product Research - PL Property & Specialty
Description
At Liberty, our Personal Lines Property & Specialty Product team partners across the company to design and launch home and specialty insurance solutions - from homeowners (property) and condos to renters and other niche lines (specialty)- that meet evolving customer and agent needs. We focus on preparing and executing program rollouts, delivering on our growth roadmap, and modernizing pricing and the technology that supports the work we do. Organized into five functions-State Management, Development, Delivery, Underwriting Effectiveness, and Specialty-we collaborate closely to meet our goals and help customers feel secure today and confident about tomorrow.
The team: This role is on the Aerial Imagery Solutions Team within the Personal Lines Property & Specialty Product department. Our team focuses on managing and supporting projects that maximize the value aerial imagery can bring to Liberty Mutual. The team's focus areas can be categorized into two broad components: strengthening existing use cases.
The role: This role will focus on addressing abroad variety of strategic questions at any given time. The chosen candidate will be responsible for integrating analytics, business rationale, design, and valuation to develop actionable recommendations that advance those strategic priorities. The individual in this role will rely on industry knowledge demonstrate a strong commitment to quality, be energized by building significant depth of expertise, and have experience managing complex, ambiguous, and high-visibility initiatives.
Responsibilities and attributes of the ideal candidate:
- Analytics and business rationale : Under general direction, conduct technical and analytical assessments of aerial-imagery opportunities, query data to perform ad hoc analysis, derive hypotheses, and frame conclusions using sound business rationale.
- Design and Solutioning: Uses analytics to develop solution designs that account for multiple business, operational, and technical considerations while Demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity to proactively identify new opportunities.
- Valuation : Evaluates the pros and cons of solution designs, including direct and indirect financial impacts to ensure enchantments position Liberty for profitable growth
- Recommendations : Develops recommendations supported by valuation, design analytics, and business rationale; presents findings to leadership and drives cross-functional alignment on required strategic decisions.
- Industry Knowledge : Applies industry expertise to anticipate upstream and downstream impacts of proposed recommendations
- Dedication to quality: Produces high-quality, thoroughly vetted work suitable for a highly visible capability area; maintains a strong personal standard of accuracy, rigor, and polish.
- Excitement for building depth of expertise : Pursues deep, multi-layer understanding of systems and workflows to surface unseen implications, anticipate stakeholder questions, and provide thought leadership and innovative perspectives.
- Project management skills: Manages complex, ambiguous projects and coordinates cross-functional stakeholders often senior leaders to execute on strategic priorities. Comfortable providing structure in ambiguity, driving alignment, and shepherding diverse groups toward shared outcomes.

- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, statistics, or other quantitative field Minimum 4 year's relevant work experience, typically 6 years.
- Master's degree beneficial. Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, Emblem).
- Must have strong planning, organizational, analytical, decision making and communication skills.
- Experience managing projects preferred.
Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
