If so we are looking for you, our next Mechanical Engineer to work in San Diego, CA, as part of a growing small team to interface with Customers and End Users to tackle their most stressing multidiscipline design challenges.

Primary Responsibilities
- Work with all aspects of the Electromagnetic (EM) and Low Observables (LO) design cycle; from requirements definition, concept design, multidiscipline trade studies and analysis, to detailed engineering design, up to prototype fabrication and testing
- Provide direct engineering support to customers and end-users
- Perform CAD manipulation for product design and finite element analysis
- Preparing technical documentation for product development and customer reporting

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Science and/or Engineering with at least 4 years of related experience
- Must be a U.S Citizen
- Must have a Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain a Top-Secret Security Clearance
- Must have excellent computer skills, with experience using SolidWorks or Ansys.
- Must be proficient with SolidWorks or comparable professional CAD software
- Experience with all aspects of the engineering design cycle; from requirements definition, initial concept design, multidiscipline trade studies and analysis, prototype fabrication, detailed engineering design for manufacturing, through verification and validation.
- Demonstrated mastery of first principles engineering and excellent problem-solving skills
- Capable of delivering engineering products within cost, schedule, and performance metrics
- Must be proficient with basic hand and shop tools for the purpose of test article preparation and/or prototype development
- Adept at managing concurrent responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Must have the ability to work independently as well as with a team
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be organized and meticulous
- Must be proactive, resourceful, and enterprising
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degrees in Physics, Engineering, or Mathematics
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) based design; Structural, Thermal, Fluids, Electromagnetics, Acoustics, or Optics
- Design experience for platforms operating within harsh environments
- Working knowledge of composite materials, Additive Manufacturing, adhesives, coatings, etc.
- Design for manufacturing experience using techniques such as machining, waterjet CNC, laser CNC, and welding
- Programming experience: Matlab, C/C++, Visual Basic, Python, MathCAD preferred for the purpose of data manipulation and processing, or Application Programming Interfaces (API) utilization.
- Familiarity with Electro-Optical Infrared (EO/IR) and RF sensor systems
- Experience with MS Office

Pay Range:
Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
