Field Engineer
Description
We're looking for a Junior Field Engineer to become a key part of our customer-facing technical team. In this role, you'll be responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting enterprise software solutions built on the .NET framework and Microsoft SQL Server, primarily in Windows environments. The position offers a dynamic mix of onsite implementation and remote troubleshooting, and calls for excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a strong desire to learn and grow.
This position will be worked on site in Newport News, VA. It will support a flexible, telework friendly schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and commission software solutions on Windows servers and client systems.
- Deploy, tune, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server instances required by application stacks.
- Configure and support .NET application environments, IIS, and related Windows services.
- Perform field site assessments, gather technical requirements, and validate system readiness.
- Provide onsite and remote technical support during installations, upgrades, and cutovers.
- Follow deployment checklists, document changes, and produce post-installation reports.
- Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or development teams and track resolution.
- Maintain inventory, software images, and configuration templates for repeatable deployments.
- Participate in customer training and knowledge-transfer sessions.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree and 4+ years of experience, experience may be able to be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Top Secret/SCI clearance
- 1+ years of hands-on experience supporting Windows Server environments.
- Security+ or equivalent or willing to obtain
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server administration fundamentals (installation, backup/restore, basic performance tuning).
- Basic experience with .NET application configuration and IIS.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience using logs, event viewer, and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable interacting with customers onsite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Prior exposure to SQL Server Agent, maintenance plans, and T-SQL querying for diagnostics.
- Help desk, field support, or systems administration background.
- Basic networking knowledge including DNS, Active Directory, and firewall rules.
- Experience with deployment automation, scripting (PowerShell), or configuration management tools.
- IT certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, MTA, or VMware Certified Associate.
- Experience scripting with PowerShell
- Linux administration experience

Pay Range:
Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
