The Airborne Solutions (AirS) Division within the Airborne & Mission Solutions Business Area of Leidos is seeking a Longbow Crew Trainer (LCT) Instructor Operator to support the Army National Guard (ANG) Aviation Training Services and Operational Support (ATSOS) program in Houston, TX. This role offers the opportunity to directly contribute to a mission that strengthens Army National Guard aviation readiness through world‑class flight and simulation training.
Leidos serves as the prime contractor for ATSOS, delivering comprehensive flight instruction, simulation training, classroom teaching, and schoolhouse support. This includes integration with the One Army School System (OASS) and Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) maintenance across current and emerging Army National Guard platforms and training devices.
We are hiring Simulator Instructor Operators (I/Os) to support a range of CONUS‑based simulation systems, including the UH‑72A Cockpit Procedure Trainer (CPT), UH‑72A Synthetic Flight Training System (SFTS), Advanced Blackhawk Flight Simulator (ABHFS), UH‑60A/L SFTS, CH‑47F Transportable Flight Proficiency Simulator (TFPS), and UH‑60V/M Blackhawk Aviation Trainer (BAT). In this role, you will deliver high‑quality instruction across base and mission tasks, support APART academic evaluations, develop mission scenarios, conduct instrument training, and facilitate crew coordination and collective training. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your aviation expertise in support of a critical national mission.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate assigned simulator devices to train all crewmember tasks outlined in Chapter Four of the applicable Aircraft Training Manual (ATM).
- Present flight records and qualifications to the Battalion/AASF/Facility Standardization Instructor Pilot upon arrival at the unit.
- Provide I/O services sufficient to support 4-5 two‑hour training periods per day per simulator device, aligned with local command operating hours.
- Support administrative duties associated with scheduled simulator periods.
- Complete Government‑administered check rides in accordance with the ATM to certify proficiency in unit SOPs, tactics, and standards; deliver training within AR 95‑1 and ATM requirements.
- Capture training data through the IOS and contribute to After‑Action Reviews (AARs) per local procedures.
- Document pilot simulator hours on DA Form 2408‑12 after each flight for transcription into the device logbook.
- Report weekly device utilization metrics-including no‑shows, availability, scenario development time, and downtime-to the QAR.
- Serve as a RFMSS Fire Desk Operator, scheduling simulator periods within required timelines and closing out each training day promptly.
- Use the Instructor/Operator Manual (IOM) and associated reference materials for daily simulator operations; identify and report any required updates as part of monthly performance reporting.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma with 8 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience.
- Qualification as an Instructor Pilot in the respective aircraft simulator and as an Instrument Flight Examiner, or a minimum of 3 years of documented experience as an Aviation Simulator I/O in the required device.
- Prior Army Aviation or military‑equivalent training or operational experience.
- USAACE/AATS‑qualified Instructor Pilot in the applicable airframe, or at least 3 years of I/O experience in the assigned device.
- Instructor Training Course (ITC) or ABIC qualification, or ability to complete an AATS‑provided ABIC course within 12 months of hire.
- Meets instructor qualification requirements as defined by the Aviation Proponent and in accordance with TR 350‑10 and TR 350‑70.
- Qualified as a unit trainer, instructor pilot, or maintenance test flight examiner with demonstrated simulator operations experience.
- USAACE‑qualified Instrument Flight Examiner.
- Ability to complete unit aircrew training within 3 months of hire if not already an instructor pilot, per AR 95‑1 and FR 350‑1.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation or security clearance appropriate to the information accessed.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $82,550.00 - $149,225.00
