Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer III to design, build, and enhance scalable, secure, and high-performance applications that support Labcorp's mission of improving health and advancing scientific innovation. In this role, you will work across the full technology stack, contribute to architecture decisions, develop modern cloud-native solutions, and mentor junior engineers. You will collaborate closely with developers, analysts, UX designers, QA engineers, and product teams to deliver high-impact applications using modern frameworks and engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to full-stack development using modern Agile methodologies.

• Develop intuitive applications in collaboration with developers, project managers, analysts, UX designers, QA, and business users.

• Design, build, and maintain RESTful microservices using Java, Spring, and cloud-native patterns.

• Develop advanced single-page applications using Angular or React.

• Deliver prototypes, reusable UI components, and maintainable automation solutions.

• Utilize AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, IAM, VPC, EC2, ELB, RDS, Route53, S3, API Gateway, SQS, and DynamoDB

• Incorporate test-driven development practices and integrate automated QA into development workflows.

• Support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.

• Troubleshoot complex issues across distributed systems and improve performance.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

• Take ownership of assigned modules and deliver features from concept to production.

• Contribute to architectural discussions and engineering process improvements.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent technical experience.

• 6+ years of software development experience in Java or another object-oriented language. (or) 6+ years of experience developing single-page applications with Angular or React.

• 3+ years of experience building applications using AWS services (Lambda, ECS, IAM, VPC, EC2, ELB, RDS, Route53, S3, API Gateway, SQS, DynamoDB).

• Strong experience with Spring and RESTful API development.

• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and apply them to active projects.

• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in Agile teams.

• Current or Previous Labcorp experience

• Experience developing container-based and serverless applications.

• Experience with messaging services like SQS, Kafka, IBM MQ, or ActiveMQ

• Experience with Terraform and Elasticache (Opensearch, Redis, Valkey etc)

• Experience building large-scale, high-availability applications.
