Labcorp is seeking a Senior Animal Behaviorist to join our Primate team in Greenfield, IN.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will collaborate with veterinarians, scientists, animal care professionals, and operational leaders to develop innovative behavior management strategies that support both animal wellbeing and scientific excellence.
- Ensure the humane care and welfare of animals used in biomedical research, demonstrating compassion, respect, and adherence to the highest ethical standards.
- Perform behavior management strategies including behavior assessments, behavioral observations, intervention planning, social housing evaluations, and implementation of enrichment programs.
- Design behavioral studies and support development of new behavior management procedures, techniques, and best practices at local, regional, and global levels.
- Support implementation of behavior management programs through procedure development, training delivery, competency assessments, and ongoing program evaluation.
- Lead the analysis of behavioral and animal welfare data, identify trends, provide recommendations, and communicate findings to key stakeholders.
- Participate in animal welfare investigations, identify root causes of behavioral concerns, and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Collaborate with Study Directors, veterinarians, clients, and IACUC representatives to develop and implement study-specific behavior management strategies.
- Provide onboarding, refresher, and advanced behavioral training for operations staff and behavioral team members.
- Develop and deliver presentations related to animal behavior and welfare for clients, audits, regulatory inspections, and professional meetings.
- Participate in industry working groups and professional organizations to ensure behavior management programs align with evolving industry standards and best practices.
- Partner with the Behavior Program Manager to evaluate, improve, and maintain training materials and behavior management resources.
- Lead the onboarding and development of new behavior team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences (Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Biology, Animal Behavior, Psychology, Zoology, or related Life Science discipline).
- 8 years or more of professional animal research, animal care, zoological, sanctuary, or breeding experience.
- 5 years or more of behavior management experience within a research, zoological, sanctuary, or captive breeding environment working with Rhesus Macaques, Cynomolgus Macaques, or Common Marmosets.
- 3 years or more experience working in a GLP environment.
- 1 year or more experience working within a multidisciplinary scientific or research team.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and differentiate between normal and abnormal species-specific behaviors.
- Strong understanding of enrichment programs, positive reinforcement training, socialization, and behavior modification techniques.
- Ability to effectively communicate behavioral observations using recognized professional behavioral terminology.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, behavior, disease processes, and reproduction of laboratory animal species.
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, animal welfare standards, and GLP regulations.

Pay Range: $70,000-$80,000 annually (USD)
All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
