Lead Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer functions as a lead-level technical expert responsible for the end-to-end design and development of enterprise learning experiences. Operating independently on complex initiatives, this role applies deep instructional design expertise, adult learning methodologies, and learning technology capabilities to create high-quality, scalable learning solutions. The Instructional Designer collaborates with subject matter experts, program managers, and business stakeholders to translate complex knowledge into engaging, effective learning that supports workforce capability needs. This is a senior individual-contributor role with no people-management responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Learning Experience Design & Development

  • Lead the design and development of complex synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences aligned to enterprise frameworks.
  • Apply advanced instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles to create highly effective and scalable learning solutions.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert in learning experience design, advising program managers and SMEs on best practices.
  • Develop facilitator guides, participant materials, eLearning, videos, job aids, and other assets requiring advanced design and technical expertise.

Learning Technology & Innovation

  • Leverage a range of authoring and media tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, video production tools) to create interactive, multimedia-rich learning.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging learning technologies and digital capabilities to enhance learning effectiveness.
  • Champion innovation in learning delivery methods and digital experiences.

Quality, Testing & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct learner/task analysis to inform solution design decisions.
  • Perform quality assurance, user testing, and iterative refinement of learning assets.
  • Use learning analytics, performance data, and stakeholder feedback to enhance design effectiveness.

Collaboration & Project Leadership

  • Partner with program managers, SMEs, and business partners to ensure solutions meet strategic capability needs.
  • Independently lead design workstreams on large or complex projects, managing priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Mentor junior designers or provide design feedback as a technical expert.
  • Contribute to defining standards, templates, and best practices for enterprise learning.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Communications, or related field; Master's preferred.
  • 5-8+ years of instructional design or learning experience design.
  • Demonstrated experience independently designing complex, multi-modality learning solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency with instructional design tools and multimedia development technologies.
  • Strong project management, consultation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a corporate or enterprise-scale learning environment.
  • Experience using AI-enabled learning tools, adaptive learning platforms, or modern LX design approaches.
  • Familiarity with UX principles and accessibility guidelines (WCAG).

Role is remote

Application Window: Open through 2/20/26

Pay Range: $100,000-$130,000 base salary + annual bonus

All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan. Bonuses are payable based on corporate and/or business segment performance and are subject to individual performance modifiers.

Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
