Hard Services Facilities Manager

We are seeking a Hard Services Facilities Manager to oversee the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of engineering, building services, and critical infrastructure across our campus.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead the hard services and maintenance function, including in-house engineers and external service providers.
- Oversee the operation, performance, and reliability of electrical, mechanical and building systems.
- Develop and deliver the campus maintenance strategy (PPM and reactive).
- Plan and manage budgets for engineering services.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and organisational standards.
- Work collaboratively with the wider facilities team, research groups, lab managers, and operational teams to understand and meet business needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
- Significant experience managing hard FM or engineering services in complex, high-risk environments.
- Proven experience managing engineering contractors and service providers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience within research, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other highly regulated laboratory environments.
- Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status for relevant systems.
- IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification.
- Experience with CAFM systems (TMS experience especially advantageous).
Additional Job Standards:
- Occasional travel to other UK sites.
- Participation in the managers' on-call rota.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, O&M manuals, and engineering specifications.
- Ability to balance long-term strategic planning with day-to-day operational demands.
