Accountant

Labcorp is seeking an Accountant to join our team in Tokyo Japan.

Job Responsibilities:

• To ensure the completeness and accuracy of transactions entered into the General Ledger for Japan.
• Responsible for the reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, monthly journals, input of journals and ledger queries.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and variance analysis for review. Take responsibility to review and investigate transactions reported, as needed, to ensure a meaningful report.
• Prepare monthly cash forecast to meet operational needs to ensure adequate funding. In addition, to monitor cash balances at optimal level for working capital on a month to month basis.
• Perform tax payment.
• Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts for entities assigned.
• Provide full explanations, calculations, supporting documentation and schedules for all reconciliations.
• Ensure all adjusting journals required are processed promptly.
• Ensure all reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner.
• Communicate any process shortcomings or accounting control weaknesses identified during the reconciliation process and to bring to the attention of the supervisor.
• Review, input and post monthly journals, as needed.
• Review and ensure timely reconciliation of fixed assets sub-ledger and work with Asset Management team to resolve differences on a timely manner.
• Support month end process.
• Support Japan tax including but not limited to fixed asset, VAT, business office, withholding tax, corporate taxes, economic beneficiary reporting, and other statutory returns as needed and ensure timely filing to the relevant authorities.
• Responsible for ad hoc audit eg. Custom, tax audits assigned and ensure timely close of audit to meet statutory reporting deadlines.
• Filing of physical travel and expense reports submitted by employees.
• Act as Japan bank administrator
• Support global and regional process improvement initiatives, as it arises.
• Complete ad hoc projects and tasks, as assigned.

• 5 or more years of experience in finance and accounting of large MNC working with multiple groups of people located in different locations.
• 3 months or more experience in handling full set of Japan book.
• 3 months or more experience in strong tax, accounting, reporting and compliance experience, including various Japan tax reporting, audit and statutory reporting.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• 3 or more months of financial systems experience in Oracle Fusion or other large ERPs.
• Fluent in Japanese and English.

• Experience in an international, multicurrency environment.
• Good time management and prioritization skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Office attendance of two to three days per week
