The Role

As an Application/Software Architect, you'll be responsible for designing cutting-edge software frameworks, systems, and products that will set the standard for the industry. You'll use your extensive technical knowledge to conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes, while also identifying and resolving any framework design weaknesses.

You'll use your technical expertise to provide technical leadership to the application development team, perform design and code reviews, and ensure that uniform enterprise-wide application design standards are maintained. You'll also collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure that the architecture is aligned with business requirements, making sure that the project meets its goals.

Your expertise in designing major aspects of the architecture of an application, including components such as user interface, middleware, and infrastructure, will be put to use as you create and maintain documentation surrounding the software architecture, application design processes, component integration, testing guidelines, and other key elements.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic ServiceNow Solution Architect to lead the design of enhancments and new features within our enterprise ServiceNow instance (ITSM, SPM, ITOM, ITAM, CSM, IRM, App Engine, Automation Engine. HRSD is also in platform but out of scope for this role). In this role, as the Solution Architect for the CIO platform team, you will work closely with CIO leadership guide technical solutioning, and manage development and project resources where applicable, to bring best-in-class digital services to Kyndryl internally.

As a CIO platform architect, you will partner with colleagues within the platform team to ensure that roadmap items dovetail into CIO and strategic initiatives to support all other platform stakeholders. You will ensure that solutions are reviewed by the relevant architectural boards (TDA / ARB) and that all designs are compliant with CIO SOX controls.

As a senior technical member of the CIO platform team, you will help to educate, train and mentor resources throughout the group to better understand and support the holistic CIO strategies.

The ideal candidate brings a unique blend of product ownership, stakeholder engagement, architectural expertise, and hands-on platform experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Product Ownership
    • Translate business requirements into scalable, innovative ServiceNow solutions aligned with enterprise platform architecture.
    • Act as the trusted advisor to Stakeholders for ServiceNow capabilities, features, and enhancements.
  • Technical Leadership & Architecture
    • Lead and direct a team of product Architects
    • Serve as the technical lead and solution architect for projects and configurations on ServiceNow.
    • Oversee configuration, integration, and development activities ensuring adherence to enterprise architectural and security standards.
  • Team & Delivery Oversight
    • Lead and mentor project development teams comprising developers, BA's and testers
    • Drive agile sprint planning and execution across an ongoing platform-wide program of work.
    • Ensure quality assurance, performance testing, and change control processes are embedded in delivery.
    • Support the interview and selection process for new team members
  • Governance & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Act as the key liaison between Stakeholders and the enterprise CIO ServiceNow team.
    • Ensure compliance with CIO architecture, data privacy, security, and development standards.
    • Contribute to enterprise-wide ServiceNow governance bodies, design reviews, and platform health initiatives.

Who You Are

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience .
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or similar is preferred
  • Experience managing 4-6 direct reports
  • Certified ServiceNow System Administrator (required)
  • 7+ years of ServiceNow platform experience, with at least 3 years in solution architecture and/or product ownership roles.
  • Proven experience in designing enterprise-scale ServiceNow solutions within a global environment.
  • Strong understanding of agile delivery practices, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional team leadership.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, especially across IT stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with Flow Designer, Integration Hub, Service Portal, and Scoped Applications.
  • Experience with Agentic AI (Moveworks, Aisera etc) is a distinct advantage.

Desirable Certifications:

  • Certified Implementation Specialist - e.g. ITSM, ITAM, ITOM (highly desirable)
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (preferred)
  • Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or progressing towards CTA (preferred)
  • Agile/SAFe certifications (e.g., Scrum Product Owner) a plus

Required Technical and Professional Experience

  • Architectural experience of large customer change and transformation projects
  • In depth knowledge and experience of hardware and software including connectivity between platforms

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • The Open Group - Master Certified Architect (or equivalent)
  • Prior hands-on experience working in a Mainframe environment
  • Experience in the following types of Mainframe projects - Modernise On, Integrate With and Move Off
  • Strong understanding of z/OS and IBM Software Products as well as 3rd party Mainframe software
