What you'll really be doing
As a Senior Operations Support Engineer, you'll take ownership of critical infrastructure and guide others in keeping it resilient and secure:
- Senior Infrastructure & Platform Ownership - You'll lead the operation of enterprise infrastructure across virtualization, cloud, and hybrid environments. This includes VMware vSphere and Hyper‑V, Linux and Windows servers, and AWS services, ensuring platforms are stable, scalable, and performing as expected across development, staging, and production.
- Reliability, Monitoring, and Automation - You'll drive monitoring and observability practices using modern tools, proactively identifying issues before they impact services. You'll also champion automation and Infrastructure as Code to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and strengthen overall platform reliability.
- Security, Compliance, and Operational Leadership - You'll ensure systems meet strict security and compliance requirements, particularly in regulated or government environments. You'll lead patching, incident response, and change activities, mentor other engineers, and act as a trusted technical point of escalation for complex operational issues.

Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in enterprise infrastructure or systems administration, supporting production environments
- Strong expertise administering Linux and Windows Server platforms at scale
- Advanced experience with enterprise virtualisation technologies, such as VMware vSphere and/or Hyper‑V
- Proven experience with server monitoring, health checks, and patch management across virtual and physical infrastructure
- Solid understanding of infrastructure reliability, availability, and operational stability in regulated environments
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing concepts
- Demonstrated ability to act as a senior technical escalation point, with strong problem‑solving and communication skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience supporting cloud or hybrid environments, particularly AWS‑based infrastructure
- Exposure to automation, scripting, or Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, Bash)
- Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery, or high‑availability solutions
- Prior experience working in government or highly regulated enterprise environments
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g. VMware, Microsoft, Red Hat, AWS)
