Senior Lead - SAP Site Reliability Engineer (FI) - AMS

The Role

To ensure the stability, availability, resilience, and reliability of SAP processes, primarily financial processes (FI), guaranteeing that batch and online processes run according to schedule and business objectives, with traceability, evidence, proactive monitoring, and failure recovery, while leading operations under AMS, SRE, and continuous improvement principles.

1. Reliability, Incident, and AMS Operations Management

  • Lead the management of critical SAP incidents and major problems, ensuring root cause analysis (RCA) and remediation plans.
  • Oversee the execution and reliability of SAP jobs and process chains (financial, accounting, and operational), in coordination with SAP Basis.
  • Ensure the correct operation of SAP FI processes, including:

    • General Ledger (GL)
    • Accounts Payable (AP)
    • Accounts Receivable (AR)
    • Asset Accounting (AA)
    • Financial close processes
  • Ensure proper ticket management in ServiceNow / Jira, including prioritization, escalation, and evidence‑based closure.
  • Define and validate communication and escalation criteria with business and IT stakeholders.

2. SAP Reliability Engineering and Advanced Functional Analysis

  • Apply Site Reliability Engineering principles within SAP environments:

    • Stability of critical business processes
    • Reduction of recurring incidents and reprocessing
    • Operational automation
  • Analyze complex failures impacting SAP FI and integrated modules.
  • Validate end‑to‑end financial and operational process flows.
  • Lead post‑incident reviews and propose structural SAP improvements.

3. Functional Leadership and Cross‑Functional Coordination

  • Act as the SAP functional lead for the AMS service, guiding functional consultants and support teams.
  • Coordinate with:

    • SAP Basis teams
    • ABAP development teams
    • System integrators
    • Business areas (Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Sales)
  • Supervise vendor and SAP partner activities.
  • Ensure alignment between business requirements, SAP configuration, and production operations.
  • Participate in release planning, change windows, and post‑deployment stabilization.

4. SAP Platform and Functional Modules

  • Provide expert functional leadership in:

    • SAP FI (primary module)
  • Provide functional support and impact analysis across integrated modules such as:

    • CO
    • MM
    • SD
    • AA
  • Validate functional configurations, system parameters, and business rules.
  • Ensure proper integration between SAP modules and external systems.
  • Support functional impact assessments related to incidents and changes.

5. Monitoring, Batch Processing, and Service Continuity

  • Oversee monitoring strategies for critical SAP processes.
  • Validate execution of batch processes, financial closes, and recurring SAP jobs.
  • Coordinate with SAP Basis on:

    • Performance issues
    • Dumps
    • Spool management
    • Lock situations
  • Ensure compliance with service continuity and recovery policies.

6. Documentation, Continuous Improvement, and AMS Governance

  • Maintain up‑to‑date functional and operational documentation, including:

    • SAP process documentation
    • End‑to‑end flow diagrams
    • Operational procedures
    • Postmortems
  • Identify improvement opportunities related to stability, efficiency, and financial controls.
  • Promote standardization and SAP functional best practices.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Technical / Functional Knowledge

  • SAP FI (expert level):

    • GL, AP, AR, AA, financial closing
  • Integrated SAP modules (desired):

    • CO, MM, SD
  • SAP operations within AMS environments
  • SAP batch processing and monitoring
  • ITSM tools: ServiceNow, Jira
  • SAP integrations with external systems
  • Strong financial and accounting process knowledge

Soft Skills

  • Functional leadership and decision‑making under pressure.
  • Clear communication with finance stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Structured analysis and resolution of complex issues.
  • Organization and prioritization in 24/7 operational environments.
  • Collaborative mindset and cross‑functional influence.
  • Strong focus on stability, results, and continuous improvement.

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor's or Engineering degree in:

    • Systems
    • Computer Science
    • Accounting
    • Finance
    • Business Administration
      or related fields.
  • Preferred:

    • SAP FI certifications
    • ITIL / ITSM
    • Experience related to audit, compliance, or SAP internal controls

Experience

  • Senior Lead profile:

    • 5+ years of experience working with SAP, with primary focus on SAP FI.
    • Proven experience in:

      • Production support
      • AMS services
      • Critical incident management
      • Cross‑module SAP integration
  • Preferred:

    • Experience in retail / El Palacio de Hierro
    • Participation in SAP implementations, rollouts, or stabilization phases
    • Availability for 24/7 operations, on‑call rotations, and change windows
    • Experience leading SAP functional teams

Work Model

  • 24/7 service, including on‑call rotations and release windows.
  • Remote work model.

Language

  • Spanish: Fluent
  • English: Basic to intermediate (technical)
