The Role
As an OpenShift Infrastructure Specialist at Kyndryl Italia Innovation Services, you'll play a key role in designing, deploying, and managing OpenShift and Kubernetes environments on top of Linux (RHEL) and IBM AIX systems. This role offers deep technical engagement, ownership of services, and the chance to make a visible impact in a collaborative environment while ensuring stability, scalability, and high availability of critical infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities
• Cluster Setup & Performance: Install, configure, and tune OpenShift/Kubernetes clusters for capacity, scalability, and performance
• Incident & Problem Management: Resolve platform issues, support application teams with misconfigurations, and implement root-cause fixes
• Change & Configuration Management: Analyze, classify, and implement changes in coordination with cross-functional teams
• Platform Operations: Manage core components, virtual networks, and interfaces for app/system communication
• Monitoring & Alerts: Integrate monitoring tools (Elastic, Kafka, etc.) for real-time visibility and proactive incident prevention
• Logging & Event Collection: Deploy and support log/event collection systems for application integration

• Availability & Updates: Provide 24/7 incident support, participate in on-call rotations, and handle patching and upgrades
• Security & Access: Manage LDAP integration, user profiles, certificates, and encryption keys
• Reporting & Backup: Produce performance reports and define/execute backup and recovery procedures

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• 3-6 years of experience with Linux (RHEL) and IBM AIX environments
• 2+ years hands-on with OpenShift & Kubernetes (installation, configuration, troubleshooting, cluster management)
• Proven experience with automation and DevOps tools (Ansible, GitOps, CI/CD pipelines)
• Strong scripting/programming skills (Bash, Python, Go, YAML, Java, C++)
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP, and hybrid cloud infrastructures
• Experience in critical incident management and working in 24/7 environments
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
• Red Hat Certified OpenShift Administrator
• Kubernetes Certified Administrator (CKA)
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
• Experience with enterprise-level monitoring/logging frameworks (Elastic, Kafka, etc.)
