The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Middleware & Applications Specialist to join our enterprise team. This role is ideal for professionals with expertise in IBM middleware technologies and a passion for delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions in a team-oriented environment.

The Middleware & Applications Specialist provides engineering support for IBM Sterling File Gateway, and related middleware and application platforms. The role focuses on deployment, implementation, upgrade, and ongoing support of file transmission systems and middleware infrastructure, ensuring secure, compliant, and efficient operations across multiple environments. This role also includes providing 24 x 7 on-call support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, implement, support, and upgrade IBM Sterling File Gateway (SFG) and Control Centre Monitor (CCM) systems.
  • Configure and support inbound/outbound SFG adapters for integration with mainframe and client destinations (Connect Direct, SFTP, FTPS).
  • Manage log compression and retention strategies for SFG.
  • Perform minor and major version upgrades for SFG and CCM, validating results in lower environments before production rollout.
  • Renew SSL certificates from internal and external authorities for SFG, CCM, and middleware products
  • Reorganize certificate management and coordinate with various teams
  • Provide operational support for OS patches, database fix packs, and security updates, including application lifecycle management.
  • Enforce security compliance standards, participate in audits, and implement security patches across environments

Required Technical and Professional Experience

  • Deep knowledge of IBM Sterling File Gateway (SFG) and Control Centre Monitor (CCM) deployment, configuration, support, and upgrade
  • Experienced with File transmission protocols: Connect Direct, SFTP, FTPS
  • Strong background in SSL certificate management (renewal, reorganisation, and compliance)
  • Hands on experience with Linux, AIX, and Windows Operating systems
  • Ability to perform scripting in Perl, Python, shell, etc
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing)
  • Ability to learn new middleware products
  • A collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills
