The Role

Bring your specialist knowledge and experience to a company managing 50% of the world's MIPS and play a critical role in our modernization mission. You'll be in good company among our global community of experts leading the future of mainframe modernization. Experts who share knowledge openly and collaborate freely.

In this role, you'll design, build and maintain the high-volume business logic that runs on the mainframe. At the same time you'll play a key role in refactoring legacy code to enable modern cloud and mobile applications to seamlessly interact with the mainframe's core data.

The Member of Technical Staff (MTS) - Safety Certification is a senior technical specialist responsible for leading software verification, validation, certification, and compliance activities supporting safety-critical embedded software programs. The role serves as a technical SME for DO-178C certification projects and works with global engineering, certification, and customer teams to ensure delivery of compliant, high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead software verification and validation activities in accordance with DO-178C standards.
  • Provide technical leadership for certification and compliance engagements.
  • Support certification planning, audit readiness, and certification artifact development.
  • Lead requirements traceability, verification reviews, and compliance assessments.
  • Perform advanced defect analysis, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations.
  • Review test strategies, verification approaches, and coverage analysis results.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on certification best practices.
  • Collaborate with customer, engineering, and program teams on certification initiatives.
  • Drive process improvements and operational excellence across certification programs.

Who You Are

Required Technical & Professional Expertise

  • 8-12 years of experience in software engineering, verification, validation, or safety certification.
  • Strong experience in safety-critical embedded software environments and DO-178C certification projects.
  • Expertise in DO-178C lifecycle processes, compliance, requirements traceability, V&V, testing, SQA, and certification audits.
  • Strong programming skills in C/Embedded C, with experience in BSP and device driver verification.
  • Proficiency with LDRA, Polarion, DOORS, Git, Jira, Linux, Python, and ARM/Intel/PPC platforms.
  • Experience leading technical workstreams and collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Technical & Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with VxWorks, Embedded Linux, and Helix Virtualization Platform (HVP).
  • Exposure to Aerospace & Defense certification programs and safety standards such as IEC 50128 and ISO 26262.
  • Experience participating in SOI audits and working with certification authorities.
  • Proven ability to lead complex certification and verification engagements as a technical SME.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical guidance across multiple projects.
  • Strong customer-facing consulting and technical advisory capabilities.
  • Ability to influence technical decisions and drive quality and compliance best practices.
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently in global certification and engineering environments.
