The Role

As Mainframe Operations Specialist at Kyndryl, you'll be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, performance, and availability of enterprise mainframe systems that support critical business functions. In this role, you help maintain stable, scalable environments by proactively managing system capacity, monitoring performance, and executing essential operational processes.

You are hands-on with day-to-day mainframe operations, including system monitoring, batch processing, and incident handling. Your work directly contributes to business continuity by ensuring systems run efficiently, issues are resolved promptly, and operational standards are consistently met.

As part of a collaborative, global team, you will communicate clearly with cross-functional stakeholders, participate in on-call rotations, and continuously strengthen system operations through process discipline and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage system capacity and performance to ensure availability, efficiency, and scalability aligned with business needs.
• Administer and optimize mainframe environments, including z/OS, z/VM, and z/Linux systems.
• Monitor and control system operations from the main console to ensure stable and compliant environments.
• Plan, execute, and independently manage batch schedules for critical operational processes.
• Own incident handling activities, including troubleshooting, resolution, and coordination with support teams.

Required Skills and Experience

• 2+ years of experience in mainframe operations, capacity or performance management, or batch scheduling.
• Hands-on experience with z/OS, z/VM, and z/Linux operating environments.
• Experience with batch scheduling tools, including ownership of schedules and execution cycles.
• Proven ability in system monitoring, patching, compliance, and availability management.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for incident resolution and operational stability.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience implementing and managing batch dependencies and calendar configurations.
• Intermediate English level for technical documentation, global collaboration, and incident reporting.
• Exposure to operational domains such as capacity planning, demand planning, materials handling, or inventory management.
• Prior experience in environments requires routine on-call support.
• Strong cross-team communication skills in global or distributed operational teams.
