The Role

As a Mainframe OMEGAMON & Tivoli Event Management SME at Kyndryl, you'll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You'll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients - which means some of the biggest in the world.

There's never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You'll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You'll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

• Install, configure, customize, upgrade, and maintain IBM OMEGAMON monitoring solutions across z/OS environments.
• Configure and administer OMEGAMON runtime environments, product libraries, started tasks, security definitions, and maintenance activities.
• Customize monitoring thresholds, alerts, situations, exceptions, workspaces, and performance dashboards to meet business requirements.
• Monitor and support critical mainframe subsystems including z/OS, CICS, IMS, Db2, MQ, Storage, and TCP/IP environments.
• Analyze system performance, capacity, and availability using OMEGAMON, RMF/SMF data, SDSF, and other diagnostic tools.
• Integrate and manage OMEGAMON event forwarding, correlation, escalation, and automation through Tivoli Event Management solutions.
• Troubleshoot monitoring issues, agent failures, alerting gaps, event-processing problems, and subsystem performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with operations, automation, command center, and application support teams to ensure timely incident resolution and SLA compliance.
• Support integration with enterprise monitoring and ITSM platforms such as Tivoli, Netcool/OMNIbus, ServiceNow, and Splunk.
• Develop technical documentation, monitoring standards, operational runbooks, and drive continuous improvement through automation and monitoring optimization.

• 8 to 12 Years of experience in IBM Mainframe Infrastructure with strong expertise in z/OS systems administration and system programming.
• Hands-on experience with the IBM OMEGAMON Monitoring Suite, including OMEGAMON for z/OS, Enhanced 3270 UI, agents, runtime environments, situations, alerts, and historical data collection.
• Proven expertise in installation, configuration, customization, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting of OMEGAMON products across enterprise mainframe environments.
• Strong knowledge of performance monitoring and capacity management, including RMF/SMF data analysis, workload management, exception monitoring, and system performance reporting.
• Extensive experience with Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring (TEMS), Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP), and Tivoli Event Management, including event correlation, escalation, filtering, and automation.
• Deep technical understanding of z/OS technologies including SMP/E, JCL, JES2, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, RACF, USS/OMVS, TCP/IP, WLM, PARMLIB/PROCLIB, and started task configuration.
• Experience integrating OMEGAMON with enterprise monitoring and ITSM platforms such as Netcool/OMNIbus, ServiceNow, Splunk, and other event-management solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, incident management, change management, and production support experience in 24x7 mission-critical mainframe environments, with a focus on operational stability and service excellence.

• Experience with Netcool/OMNIbus or similar enterprise event management tools
• Exposure to enterprise ticketing tools integration (ServiceNow or equivalent)
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments in industries like banking, insurance, or retail
• Advanced troubleshooting experience involving:
• Event flow issues between OMEGAMON, Tivoli, and downstream systems
• Monitoring gaps and incorrect alert behavior
• Experience in automation of monitoring and event management workflows
• Exposure to system performance tuning and capacity planning
• Ability to implement best practices for monitoring standardization across environments
