HR Business Development Specialist - M&A and Strategic Workforce Transitions

The Role

This role is part of the HR Business Development (HRBD) function and is responsible for leading and coordinating the HR workstream in complex business transactions such as acquisitions, divestitures, and service outsourcing. The specialist acts as a strategic advisor to business leaders and ensures seamless execution of people-related solutions across global teams and HR functions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic HR Advisory:

  • Partner with Corporate Development, Legal, and Finance to shape deal strategy from an HR perspective.
  • Provide input to business cases, risk assessments, and HR budget planning.
  • Influence decision-making by articulating people impacts and mitigation strategies.

2. Cross-Functional HR Workstream Leadership :

  • Lead the orchestration of HR deliverables across Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Payroll, ELR, HR Services, and Workday teams.
  • Ensure alignment of timelines, data readiness, and compliance across all HR functions.
  • Drive clarity on roles and responsibilities through SOPs and DTPs.

3. International Teaming & Cultural Integration:

  • Coordinate with regional HR leads to ensure compliance with local legislation and cultural norms.
  • Support leadership alignment and organisational change management to accelerate integration and productivity.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and onboarding across borders, including matrix manager assignments.

4. Collaboration with Deal Teams and Client-Facing Solutioning:

  • Act as the HR lead in opportunity engagement teams, working closely with deal teams, sellers, and solution architects to shape people-related offerings for clients.
  • Translate client requirements into executable HR solutions that align with Kyndryl's delivery model and brand promise.
  • Ensure HR readiness for client transitions, including co-determination, onboarding, and compliance.

5. Divestiture and Exit Support:

  • Lead HR planning and execution for divestitures, including employee transfers out of Kyndryl to third parties.
  • Manage people-related risks, ensure compliance with local laws, and support cultural and operational transitions.
  • Maintain employee experience and business continuity during service exits.

6. Governance & Continuous Improvement:

  • Maintain and evolve the HRBD toolkit, project intake forms, and governance models.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to the development of a formal HR M&A playbook.
  • Monitor project health and engagement metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of HR operating models and global employment practices.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional and cross-border teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Experience with Workday, HR analytics, and project management tools.
  • Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years in HR roles with exposure to all HR core processes such as compensation, payroll or employee relations
  • Certification in change management or M&A (e.g., Wharton M&A programme) is a plus.
