The Role
Data Engineers are expected to:
Design and Build Data Platforms
- Create scalable and reliable data infrastructure to support analytics and business intelligence.
- Ensure compliance with organizational regulations and policies. [
Data Governance
- Develop and enforce standards for data collection, storage, processing, and disposal.
- Maintain security, privacy, and accuracy of organizational data.
Data Infrastructure & Storage
- Apply knowledge of hardware, software, networking, and cloud services for data consumption and sharing.
- Work with technologies like big data platforms, data lakes, and relational/NoSQL databases.
Data Preparation & Integration
- Gather, clean, normalize, and transform data for analysis and visualization.
- Expertise in ETL processes, data modeling, and quality assurance.

- Pipeline Development & Optimization
Build and maintain robust data pipelines for extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
Optimize data delivery and automate manual processes. - Infrastructure Scalability

Redesign systems for scalability and performance improvements.
Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.
Implement validation, cleaning processes, and security measures to ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
Who You Are
Required Skills and Experience
- Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, macOS troubleshooting.
- Networking Fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN configuration.
- Remote Troubleshooting Tools: Expertise in remote support platforms.
- Database & Cloud Services: Backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, cloud storage solutions.
- Security Fundamentals: Antivirus management, firewalls, encryption.
- Scripting & Automation: Automate backup tasks and monitoring processes.
- Backup & Recovery Systems: Perform backup and recovery of customer data in distributed or cloud environments.
- Operate and maintain backup infrastructure (physical and virtual).
- Deep knowledge of products like Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Veeam Backup & Replication, IBM Storage Protect (Spectrum Protect)
- Disaster Recovery & Resiliency: Implement and manage DRaaS (Disaster Recovery as a Service).
- Risk and contingency planning for hybrid platforms.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience working with Storage Technologies, IBM, Hitachi, NetApp. • Experience working as a Data Engineer and/or in cloud modernization
• Experience in Data Modelling, to create conceptual model of how data is connected and how it will be used in business processes
• Professional certification, e.g., Open Certified Technical Specialist with Data Engineering Specialization
• Cloud platform certification, e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty, Elastic Certified Engineer, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
• Understanding of social coding and Integrated Development Environments, e.g., GitHub and Visual Studio
• Degree in a scientific discipline, such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology
