SAFETY SPECIALIST

JOB DESCRIPTION
Implement, communicate and maintain AllSafe safety program, including, but not limited to training, safety awareness, ergonomics, behavior-based safety, job safety analyses, and safe workplace inspections. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement, track and perform safety compliance audits and conduct personal safety training programs, new safety coach position orientation, and behavior-based safety
- Conduct routine behavior-based safety inspections and propose appropriate corrective actions
- Maintain the AllSafe safety program and propose appropriate changes to standard operating procedures and safe work practices
- Assist store leaders in California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal OSHA) visits and properly document and respond to all requests for information; review and oversee any necessary corrective actions put in place because of an Cal OSHA visit and citation
- Assist in implementing the AllSafe safety program at store level
- Act as a liaison during investigations conducted by Kroger Corporate Safety, CAL OSHA, and any other federal, state, or local safety agency
- Ensure annual safety modules are completed by appropriate associates at store and district levels
- Promote safety through personal work habits and interaction with all positions
- Demonstrate the ability to lead or facilitate store and cross-functional teams through implementation of continuous improvement projects
- Follow established programs, policies and practices to promote safe work practices that meet regulatory and company requirements
- Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years store management experience
- Thorough knowledge of Cal OSHA standards and behavior-based safety concepts
- Ability to effectively communicate Cal OSHA/Behavioral Accident Prevention Process (BAPP) standards and concepts to all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently or in groups
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2+ years of experience as an assistant store leader
