As a Credit Risk Associate in the Wholesale Credit Risk EMEA Financial Institutions Group Developed Markets credit team, you will play a key role in diligence, risk grading, structuring, and ongoing monitoring of a diverse portfolio of banks and insurance clients. You will manage derivatives, securities financing, and lending relationships, serving as the Credit Officer and primary contact for your portfolio. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior team members, contribute to team projects, and help shape the future of credit risk management within our inclusive and collaborative environment.

Job responsibilities

  • Serve as the credit expert for a portfolio of banking and insurance clients in European countries.
  • Grade and review credit exposures, tracking financial performance and events impacting the assigned portfolio.
  • Lead credit due diligence for onboarding new clients and reviewing existing ones.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments, including Investment Banking, Debt Capital Markets, Global Corporate Banking and Legal, to address portfolio reviews and deep-dive analyses.
  • Produce concise and insightful credit memos, proposing and articulating recommendations for credit actions.
  • Analyze and obtain approval for structured derivatives transactions and lending requests.
  • Develop knowledge of legal documentation for markets and banking products, taking a proactive approach in supporting the team and leading negotiations.
  • Participate in team and department-level projects to improve processes and drive efficiencies.
  • Review the work of credit analysts and mentor junior colleagues, while delivering individual contributions.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Strong credit skills and judgment, with a hands-on approach to analyzing credit.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, establishing credibility and trust with credit executives, clients and product specialists.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Knowledge of transaction structures, documentation and banking products to support Lending and Markets deals.
  • High level of energy and ability to prioritize multiple deliverables under time pressure.
  • Relevant experience in a similar position or function in a comparable environment.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Experience in financial services (credit risk or similar).
  • Familiarity with the business models of financial institutions, such as banks and insurance companies.
