UI / React Software Engineer III

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Asset Management Team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes the design, development, and maintenance of real-time trading user interfaces using React, Next.js, NX, and Material UI, applying innovative approaches to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Develops secure, high-quality production code for front-end applications, integrating these with our viewserver via WebSocket to enable live data streaming and synchronization.
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for trading platforms, ensuring that design constraints and best practices are consistently met throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and synthesizes data from live trading environments, developing visualizations and reporting tools to support continuous improvement of user interfaces and system performance.
  • Proactively identifies hidden issues and patterns in application data, leveraging these insights to enhance coding standards, system reliability, and architectural integrity.
  • Contributes to front-end engineering communities of practice, participating in events and discussions that explore new and emerging technologies relevant to trading systems.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training and certification in software engineering, with a minimum of 4 years of hands-on, applied experience in the field.
  • Proven experience building complex React applications, with strong proficiency in React and TypeScript.
  • Skilled in real-time data handling and integration, leveraging modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Familiarity with Storybook for UI component development and documentation, as well as experience with Visual Regression Testing (VRTs) and modern testing frameworks such as Jest and Testing Library.
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and the ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Solid grasp of agile methodologies, including continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), application resiliency, and security best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to proactively identify and resolve technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively within diverse, cross-functional teams.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in financial services or trading platforms.
  • Knowledge of other asset classes (e.g., equities, FX, fixed income).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or technical blogs.
