Trade Lifecycle Associate I - Client Instruction Capture and Settlements (Commercial & Investment Bank)

As a Trade Lifecycle Associate I in Client Instruction Capture and Settlements, you manage the operational workflow and control of custody client trades. You process and validate trades, monitor settlement activities, and address discrepancies, leveraging escalation channels as needed. You ensure compliance with established procedures, provide effective communication to the team, and contribute to ongoing risk management and strategic development. Your role supports resource planning, training, and succession planning, and requires flexibility to work APAC and late APAC shifts.
Job responsibilities
- Manage workflow through the life cycle of custody trades, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Process and validate trades in accordance with established work practices and procedures.
- Apply complete knowledge of trade lifecycle and the role of custodian bank.
- Process FX trades; knowledge of SWIFT MT54X messages and global market nuances is required.
- Monitor and manage trade capture, fails management, and settlement activities.
- Address settlement discrepancies and leverage escalation channels promptly.
- Respond to queries relating to trade status and market practice.
- Provide operational management and control of daily workflow within the custody team.
- Maximize team capacity through effective resource planning, training, and succession planning.
- Communicate strategic and regulatory changes to the department.
- Review and update Standard Operating Procedures in line with new policies and risk management activities.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Minimum 4 years in the financial services industry
- Understanding of Treasury vs. Agent (Off Book currency) FXs.
- Strong risk and control awareness; ability to prioritize workloads and meet critical deadlines.
- Excellent customer service skills; able to handle difficult situations internally and externally.
- Operational subject matter expertise in reconciliation, settlements, fails management, trade support, risk and control, and custody.
- Ability to learn new markets, products, and processes.
- Confident communicator in all mediums with internal and external clients.
- Strategic thinker; able to review and implement process improvements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Capable of working under pressure and coping with changing volumes while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
- Has custody and fund services or markets background (Global custody or local custody background)
- Experience in driving projects and initiatives.
- Familiarity with SWIFT messages, specifically MT54 series.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience working under pressure and maintaining quality with changing volumes.
Additional Information
- Flexibility to work APAC and late APAC shifts (as early as 6am to 11am start).
