As a Tax Vice President in the APAC Tax Team, you play a pivotal role in ensuring tax compliance and providing expert advisory support across Malaysia and Singapore. You will work closely with colleagues and external advisors to manage tax risks, optimize tax positions, and drive process improvements. You will help us deliver on our commitment to excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

Job responsibilities

  • Oversee tax compliance for Malaysia and Singapore, including direct and indirect taxes such as corporate tax, GST/SST, transfer pricing, stamp duty, withholding tax, and tax incentives
  • Partner with project teams, finance, operations, and business units to design and implement tax-compliant processes and controls for Malaysia e-invoicing and related reporting
  • Support the preparation and submission of BEPS returns, tax audits, and financial statement audits
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors to mitigate tax risks
  • Provide direct and indirect tax advisory support to business units in Malaysia and Singapore
  • Conduct research and analysis on tax law changes and incentive requirements to identify optimization opportunities
  • Oversee tax provision processes, general ledger tax balances, and compliance programs
  • Drive process improvements, including automation of tax provision, SST and GST filings, withholding tax, and stamp duty processes
  • Support regional corporate tax, finance, and business projects as required
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment on tax matters
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant tax regulations and best practices

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant tax experience in Malaysia and Singapore, ideally within financial services or a Centre of Excellence
  • In-depth knowledge of Malaysia and Singapore tax law and practice, including experience supporting tax audits and financial statement audits and managing relationships with external tax advisors
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and project management skills, and proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and automation in tax functions, with strong analytical skills, attention to details and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Professional tax qualification (e.g., Chartered Accountant, CPA, or equivalent)
  • Experience with Malaysia e-invoicing implementation
  • Experience in automation of tax processes and digital transformation projects
  • Exposure to regional or multinational tax environments
  • Experience supporting cross-functional or cross-border projects
  • Familiarity with tax incentive programs and optimization strategies
  • Proficiency in additional Asian languages
