Sr Lead Software Engineer

We have an amazing opportunity for a highly motivated individual in our Buenos Aires Technology Center.

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer (VP) you will be responsible for managing the Buenos Aires MDL Engineering team, 7 Engineers, and for collaborating with colleagues in the US, UK & India to define and drive forward the strategic Data Mesh Strategy within CIB Markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, build, delivery, and deployment of high-performing applications to meet the needs of Markets Business, including AIML use cases.
  • Drive the Markets Data strategy of transition from Authoritative Data Stores (ADS) to a Data Mesh Architecture.
  • Communicate directly with stakeholders to create the best products through direct collaboration.
  • Drive innovation and engineering practices to solve complex business problems.
  • Ensure reliability & improve operationality efficiency of the strategic Data Mesh platform.
  • Manage & optimize infrastructure costs to ensure cost effectiveness of the Data Mesh platform.
  • Apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
  • Embrace a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming language, including Python or Java (both is a major plus).
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Expertise in Big Data platforms; AWS, Databricks, Snowflake or HDFS.
  • Expertise in Cloud Computing, AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Demonstrated track record of being a leader who can manage teams effectively.
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Apache Iceberg open table format and Parquet.
  • Familiarity with message brokers such as Kafka or MQ and query engines like AWS Athena & Redshift
  • Experience with AWS Glue, AWS S3, and cloud service provisioning tools like Terraform.
  • Experience in the financial industry.
  • Hands on experience with AIML technologies, including coding assistants like Copilot.
