Software Engineer - Engineering Operations

As an Application Owner within the Engineering Operations Team, you will be responsible for technology asset management, vendor onboarding and compliance with technology controls.

We are seeking a candidate who can flex from being strategic to tactical, and from being creative to pragmatic and analytical. To join our team, you will need to have an interest in technology controls, software and vendor onboarding as well as a desire for learning how technology operates. You will act as the primary liaison between our engineering teams, business and vendors. Your responsibilities will include overseeing documenting and evidencing existing application architecture and data flows, identifying compliance gaps, and ensuring gaps are converted to actionable engineering requirements for prioritization.
Job Responsibilities
- Source context and information from the Technology Teams and software vendors to execute the software onboarding process.
- Work with Global Supplier Services to onboard and monitor vendors
- Build and manage relationships with internal key stakeholders and contacts to ensure legal, risk, compliance and/or controls requirements are satisfied
- Partner with our product and engineering teams to ensure technology meets the needs of the business.
- Act as a subject matter expert. Maintaining knowledge of software functionality, software architecture, onboarding processes, company procedures and technology controls as well as any changes to the standards.
- Engage with senior stakeholders across the firm to agree priority and resolve issues, risks and areas of contention.
- Collaborate with Technology Owners and Internal Governance to identify areas of software onboarding risk, share pertinent information and problem solve.
- Understand the architecture for the wider JPM Personal Investing ecosystem.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve compliance with technology controls
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- 5+ years of professional experience
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills - ability to manage senior stakeholders whilst dealing with competing priorities.
- Clear communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly organized, proactive and detail-oriented.
- Possess a can-do, problem solving attitude and time management discipline.
- Ability to understand technical concepts
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Familiarity with Cloud Architecture, implementation of digital products, SaaS and DevOps.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Experience with third party risk oversight/sourcing/vendor management
- Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence tools, etc.)
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
- Experience using JIRA, Confluence, Technology Issue Management and Vendor Management tools
