SharePoint Web Designer, Senior Associate

1 month ago Plano, TX

Are you ready to transform SharePoint environments with your technical expertise and creative design skills? As a SharePoint Web Designer, you'll play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing OneSource environments for knowledge and content management. We're seeking someone who not only solves technical problems but also brings a strong eye for design, ensuring our sites are both highly functional and visually compelling. Join us to make a significant impact on user experience, system efficiency, and the overall look and feel of our SharePoint environments.

Overview

We're looking for a designer-first SharePoint professional to craft clear, beautiful, and intuitive OneSource experiences. This role emphasizes site design, content strategy, information architecture, and visual standards over backend development or scripting. You'll shape navigation, page layouts, and templates; partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into user-centered designs; and ensure content is accurate, accessible, and easy to find.

Job Responsibilities

  • Designer-first SharePoint role focused on page design, information architecture, navigation, templates, and content governance; not a backend/dev or PowerShell role.
  • Design modern SharePoint Online pages and reusable templates that are visually consistent, on-brand, accessible, and easy to use (layouts, web parts, images, iconography, typography).
  • Define and maintain information architecture: site structure, hub navigation, taxonomy/managed metadata, tagging, and search optimization to improve findability.
  • Create reusable templates, content guidelines, and design standards to drive consistency across a large site network (200+ sites).
  • Manage the full content lifecycle: intake, approvals, versioning, publishing, and retirement; enforce governance and audit-ready practices.
  • Partner with business owners to gather requirements, produce wireframes/mockups, and iterate based on stakeholder feedback and site analytics.
  • Maintain site quality through broken-link checks, image optimization, performance-aware page composition, and periodic content reviews.
  • Track usage and behavior (site analytics) to identify opportunities for content consolidation, promotion, and decommissioning; translate insights into UX improvements.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills

  • Strong portfolio of modern SharePoint or web design work showcasing clean layouts, intuitive navigation, and consistent visual systems; portfolio submission required.
  • Hands-on experience with SharePoint Online page design, hub/site navigation, managed metadata, search configuration, and content approvals.
  • Proficiency in front-end presentation for SharePoint: HTML/CSS for styling within governance boundaries, image optimization, and accessibility fundamentals (WCAG).
  • Expertise in information architecture and content strategy: taxonomy design, labeling, template creation, and editorial standards.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement: requirements gathering, mockups/wireframes, design reviews, and clear documentation.
  • Organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple pages/sites and prioritize updates by impact and audience.
  • Working knowledge of analytics tools; ability to interpret engagement data and guide design decisions.
  • Site quality management capabilities: broken-link checks, performance-aware page composition, and periodic content reviews.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills

  • Experience designing at enterprise scale (e.g., driving consistency across 200+ sites or complex hub structures).
  • Familiarity with search tuning, metadata-driven experiences, and content personalization strategies.
  • Background in editorial operations and content governance frameworks in regulated environments.
  • Experience conducting content audits and rationalization to streamline site ecosystems.
  • Exposure to accessibility testing workflows and remediation beyond fundamentals.
  • Comfort with wireframing and prototyping tools; ability to turn requirements into clear visual artifacts.
  • Visual design systems expertise: iconography, typography, spacing systems, and reusable components/templates.
  • Performance-aware design: optimizing images, page composition, and component choices to improve load times and usability.
  • Change management and documentation skills: publishing standards, authoring guidelines, and playbooks that enable consistent content creation across distributed teams.
