Service Mesh / Service Registry Product Director - Executive Director

As a Product Management Director in Infrastructure Platforms, you will lead the strategy and product management for our Service Mesh and Service Registry product areas, delivering capabilities and features that will delight our internal users. As a leader on the team, you leverage your advanced capabilities to challenge traditional approaches, remove barriers to success, and foster a culture of continuous innovation that helps inspire cross-functional teams create groundbreaking solutions that address customer needs.

Job responsibilities

  • Oversees the strategy, requirements definition, product roadmap and backlog prioritization for the Service Mesh and Service Registry product areas.
  • Leads the entire product life cycle through planning, execution, and future development by continuously adapting, developing new products and methodologies, managing risks, and achieving business targets like cost, features, scalability, and reliability to support growth
  • Coaches and mentors the product team on best practices, such as solution generation, product discovery, storyboarding, mind-mapping, prototyping methods, product adoption strategies, and product delivery, enabling them to effectively deliver on objectives
  • Owns product performance and is accountable for investing in enhancements to achieve business objectives
  • Monitors market trends, conducts competitive analysis, and identifies opportunities for product differentiation and evolution

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experienced in delivering products, projects, or technology applications
  • Extensive knowledge of the product development life cycle, technical design, and data analytics
  • Proven ability to influence the adoption of key product life cycle activities including discovery, ideation, strategic development, requirements definition, and value management
  • Experience of implementing change within organizations and managing stakeholders across multiple functions
  • Champions a culture of customer-centricity, collaboration, and continuous improvement within IP product teams
  • Excellent understanding of modern product management practices, such as discovery, design thinking, prototyping, journey mapping, competitive analysis, addressable market segmentation, prioritization, and roadmap development
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop others, both individually and at scale
  • Experience of influencing cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders without direct authority
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to make complex concepts clear and actionable
  • Proven analytical and systems thinking skills - able to connect day-to-day practices to organizational strategy and outcomes

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Recognized thought leader within a related field
  • Experience of Service Mesh (istio) and Service Registry open source projects is desirable
  • Experience working in technical product management or within infrastructure product domains
