As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking and Wealth Management team, you will play a crucial role in an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products that are secure, stable, and scalable.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure, high-quality production code; reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues, improving overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to probe architectural designs, assess technical credentials, and determine applicability within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and adoption of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Participates in design and code reviews, incorporates security and non-functional requirements into designs, and provides input on information/data flow
  • Incorporates modern architectural standards into application design specifications
  • Takes ownership of business-critical and complex applications

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 5+ years of applied experience
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, SQL)
  • Strong skills in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Sonar), application resiliency, and security practices
  • Demonstrated expertise in software applications and technical processes within technical domains such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and mobile technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and related IT systems
  • Exposure to UI frameworks such as Angular (version 4+) or ReactJS
  • Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases, PL/SQL, ORM frameworks (e.g., MyBatis, Hibernate), and basic Linux/UNIX skills

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Practical cloud native experience
