As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Wholesale Credit Risk Technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications.

Job responsibilities

  • Provides guidance and manages a team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities to deliver high quality software
  • Participate in design sessions with fellow programmers, business analysts, Product Owners and other team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solution
  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Primarily, design and implement secure and robust REST APIs using technologies such as Java Spring Boot and Spring MVC for cloud native micro-service applications

Demonstrates overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle with solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development. Participate in code reviews. Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies.

  • Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

    • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
    • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
    • Advanced in one or more programming language(s) - Java , Cloud , Microservices , Containers/Dockers/Kubernetes , Kafka , Pl/SQL , Oracle
    • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
    • Ability to understand UI technologies such as JavaScript / React and experience in building enterprise applications
    • Proficient in automation, continuous delivery methods and all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
    • Extensive knowledge and experience working in an Agile environment.
    • Passionate about learning emerging technologies

    Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

    • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
    • Hands on experience with writing functional code - Java , Cloud , Microservices , Containers/Dockers/Kubernetes , Kafka , Pl/SQL , Oracle
    • Experience working and collaborating with global teams across multiple time zones
