As the Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase as a part of Consumer and Community Banking Digital Technology, you will lead multiple technical areas, oversee the activities of various departments, and collaborate across different technical domains. Your expertise will be utilized cross-functionally to promote the adoption and implementation of technical methods within diverse teams, helping the firm stay at the forefront of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements.

Job responsibilities

  • Manages development teams, scrum masters to develop features / functionality to achieve business goals
  • Serves as the lead technical partner on a Product team
  • Collaborates with the Product Owner, General Manager, Lead Designer to understand the business strategy and design technical solutions that align with the strategy
  • Partners with the product owner to ensure the right balance and focus on technical requirements and business requirements
  • Ensure for building a diverse and inclusive team culture
  • Partners with Product Architect to ensure the target state architecture feeds into the roadmap with the Product Owner
  • Ensure for technology modernization and delivery improvements
  • Ensure for applying architectural and engineering standards and design principles to detailed design
  • Regularly seeks feedback on team members from relevant stakeholders and uses that feedback to optimize team dynamics and make adjustments as necessary
  • Collaborates with the Scrum Master to understand team dynamics and performance; makes necessary adjustments to improve performance
  • Work closely with stakeholders to provide status, iterative releases, and make design decision throughout the development

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ year of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise and more broadly across the organization
  • Strong technical skills; understands how software is developed and deployed along with knowledge of programming best practices
  • Uses empathy; understand team dynamics and organizational boundaries / constraints
  • Ability to use and analyze data/organizational metrics to foster team's continuous improvement.
  • Ability and willingness to provide constructive feedback to employees with the goal of improving performance / increasing productivity
  • Ability to create an environment that fosters collaboration, trust, diversity/inclusion and
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including non-technical
  • Ability to influence across various stakeholders to ensure the appropriate focus on technical discipline/requirements
  • Manages technical budget for assigned product(s)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • In depth understanding of common development design patterns or technologies such as Service oriented environments, Microservices, APIs, etc.
  • Knowledge of end to end product development concepts including risk, audit, controls, and legal and compliance
  • Understanding of products supported and overall business strategy
  • Provides opportunities for and actively participates in continuous improvement / learning / training activities
  • Openly shares information and data to drive business, team and individual results
  • Fosters an environment where team members have a say and share ideas about how to approach their work
