As an Associate in the Credit Derivatives Middle Office, you provide comprehensive support to the trading desk, ensuring accurate capture and lifecycle management of credit derivatives products. You work closely with front office, risk, operations, technology, and compliance teams to maintain robust controls and deliver high-quality service. You manage operational risk across a range of instruments, including single-name CDS, index CDS, tranches, options, and bespoke credit structures.
Job Responsibilities
- Validate and process trades for a variety of credit derivatives products, including single-name CDS, index CDS, tranches, options, and bespoke structures.
- Ensure all trades are accurately booked in front office systems and reconciled with back office records.
- Review and resolve trade discrepancies, mismatches, and breaks between systems.
- Manage and process lifecycle events such as credit events, novations, assignments, coupon payments, roll dates, and maturities.
- Oversee amendments, terminations, and cancellations, ensuring proper system updates and stakeholder communication.
- Oversee electronic and manual confirmation processes via platforms like Markit Wire, DTCC, and ICE.
- Support daily risk and P&L reporting, including attribution and investigation of breaks.
- Ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements for credit derivatives trading and reporting.
- Support regulatory reporting and respond to regulatory inquiries.
- Act as a key point of contact for traders, sales, risk, operations, technology, and compliance teams.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance control, efficiency, and automation.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- Hold a bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrate 5 years of relevant experience in middle office, trade support, or operations within an investment bank or financial institution.
- Exhibit direct experience supporting credit derivatives products such as single-name CDS, index CDS, tranches, and credit options.
- Understand credit derivatives instruments, market conventions, and lifecycle events.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas); experience with Alteryx, Tableau, VBA, Uipath, or Python).
- Display strong attention to detail and accuracy in trade validation, reconciliation, and lifecycle event processing.
- Communicate effectively with traders, sales, risk, operations, technology, and external counterparties.

- Investigate and resolve trade breaks, discrepancies, and operational issues independently.
- Collaborate effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Understand regulatory requirements impacting credit derivatives (Dodd-Frank, EMIR, CFTC, MiFID II).
- Commit to maintaining robust controls and adhering to internal policies and procedures.
- Learn new systems and tools quickly and efficiently.
