As a Principal Architect at JPMorgan Chase within Home Lending Architecture, you'll lead the strategic direction, design systems, and user experience architecture for our digital platforms. You will define and govern UI/UX patterns, reusable libraries, and platform-wide standards that promote consistency, scalability, and innovation across all products. You'll shape the digital experience for millions of customers, influence architectural decisions, and foster a culture of collaboration and technical excellence. Job responsibilities

  • Define and drive the UI/UX vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with business goals and user needs.
  • Advocate for user-centered design at the organizational level, influencing product and technology strategy.
  • Advise and lead on strategy and development for multiple products, applications, and technologies across a portfolio.
  • Architect, maintain, and evolve comprehensive design systems, component libraries, and UX patterns for cross-platform consistency.
  • Establish and enforce design guidelines, accessibility standards, and best practices across teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure seamless implementation of design systems and patterns and integration of reusable UI components and frameworks to accelerate product delivery and ensure design consistency.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable, intuitive solutions.
  • Influence across business, product, and technology teams and manage senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Drive adoption and implementation of modern front-end frameworks, design systems, and best practices.
  • Mentor and guide UI/UX teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, platforms, and methodologies to enhance user experience and team productivity.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on front-end technologies concepts and 10+ years applied experience
  • 8+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with at least 3 years in a lead or architect role.
  • Advanced knowledge of architecture, design, and business processes with proficiency in application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
  • Proven expertise in building and scaling design systems, component libraries, and cross-platform UI/UX strategies.
  • Knowledge and experience working with web technologies and Java, as well as developing custom UI components.
  • Experience ensuring the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and integration with React.js.
  • Expertise in web framework and application design and architecture disciplines.
  • Extensive working experience and advanced knowledge in server-side web and mocking technologies for testing.
  • Deep understanding of accessibility, usability, and responsive design principles. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Possess a functional orientation, understanding how development work translates to the business end-user.
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) and design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
  • Micro-services architecture and cloud computing knowledge. Micro-front-end architecture experience.
  • Advanced hands-on knowledge of web development.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-level platforms and complex product ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices.
  • Ability to balance business objectives, technical constraints, and user needs at scale. Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals.
