Planning and Analysis Data Scientist - Executive Director

Information Architecture within Corporate Financial Analysis (FA) is working to build scalable, end-to-end data products that enable centralized, self-service data sourcing through an array of consumption patterns optimized for Planning and Analysis (P&A) functions.

As a Planning and Analysis Data Scientist in the Information Architecture team, you will lead the initiatives to unlock value from data products using advanced AI, ML and statistical models. You will create data assets for consumption by a range of users, including senior leadership, finance professionals, data analysts, automation teams, and quantitative research. As part of an influential and data-centric team, you will drive transformative initiatives, and influence the design of the data models, data products, and the transformation roadmap across domains such as workforce, vendor expenses, forecast assumptions, expense planning, stress testing, macro-economic scenarios, consolidated financials, and more.

You will lead critical projects with high visibility to Senior Leadership, and collaborate with data product owners, business users (both technical and non-technical), data providers, quantitative teams, and technology teams across the entire finance function to ideate, design, evaluate and deliver advanced analytics and data assets.

Job Responsibilities

  • Tackle on some of the most complex and highly visible data problems in finance, at the intersection of finance, data science and technology.
  • Design and build models to unlock information and value within Firmwide P&A Data Products, transforming Planning and Analysis processes.
  • Explore and Prototype ideas to extract key statistical insights. Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to enhance business outcomes.
  • Conduct data science experiments to inform and influence the strategy for transition planning methodologies to be more model-based, and to test the improvements in performance and accuracy.
  • Develop and deploy large-scale data processing and modeling using Databricks platform and in-house development frameworks.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement, build strong relationships with business users and data modelers to build data structures to ensure high quality data assets optimized for consumption.
  • Advice Firmwide P&A team on new innovative ways to leverage data science to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Partner with other high-performing teams within JPM to inspire innovation and champion change throughout the bank.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Master's degree in computer science, data science, economics, or related quantitative discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience designing and implementing quantitative models, AI/ML and analytic solutions.
  • Strong knowledge and experience using SQL & Python for data analysis, ML models, and large language models (LLMs).
  • Predisposition to not only provide strategic leadership and oversight, but to be hands-on during the implementation.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Curious mind to dig deep into the business and data to understand the context: Inquisitive and analytical mindset, challenges the status quo, and strive for excellence
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative methods to a diverse audience, to educate stakeholders on leveraging results, and review the underlying methodologies with other quantitative teams.
  • Hands-on and adaptative approach to creating solutions aligned to the strategic cloud platform.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and proven ability to structure open ended problems
  • Knowledge of Financial Services and HR data.
