As a Wholesale Payments Operations Senior Associate in our Sydney team, you will play a pivotal role in managing critical payment operations and projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in local banking processes and regulations to make a significant impact.

As an Operations Associate in the Sydney team, you will manage the New Payments Platform (NPP), High Value Clearing, and Low Value Clearing. Your role will require strong governance and project management skills, along with a deep understanding of local banking processes, products, and regulations related to payments and clearing.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage New Payments Platform Operations and Projects independently.
  • Drive Payments (NPP, SWIFT, Direct Entry, BPAY) projects.
  • Act as a backup for operational activities related to Cheques Clearing, Cash Transfers, BPAY, High Value Clearing, and Cross-border transactions.
  • Manage internal and external service level agreements and cut-offs.
  • Partner with local and regional teams for operational matters.
  • Assist and drive key projects, daily tasks, and exception management.
  • Ensure timely completion of daily tasks and address exceptions and inquiries promptly.
  • Liaise with partner banks, review and update service level agreements, and conduct regular calls to ensure updated policies and procedures.
  • Understand KPIs and KRIs thoroughly.
  • Focus on Risk and Control, partnering with Risk and Control managers to ensure compliance with policies.
  • Collaborate with Product, Technology, Compliance, Sales, and Implementation teams to drive the broader franchise agenda.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in Banking, including NPP, domestic and cross-border payments, Merchant Acquiring, Trade Finance, and Liquidity Operations.
  • Minimum 5 years of Banking experience with an emphasis on NPP, low value (BECS), and High Value clearing payments processing.
  • Good knowledge of eComm products like payments through cards and merchant acquiring.
  • Track record of executing and managing significant change agendas locally and regionally.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent process and analytical skills with the ability to work in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and develop strong partnerships across diverse teams.
