Markets Securities Operations Buenos Aires Payment Utility - Senior Associate

As a Senior Associate within our Buenos Aires Payment Utility team, you will play a key role in supporting the Markets - Securities Operations middle and back office teams by processing payments arising from their daily activities. Your responsibilities will include developing a thorough understanding of the financial processes that initiate these payments, recognizing their urgency and sensitivity, and taking appropriate action as needed.

You will be expected to demonstrate a strong control mindset to ensure payments are executed accurately and on time, while proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements in response to the evolving needs of the industry.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understand the end-to-end payment process being able to oversee the operations across all teams served, ensuring all payments are processed on respective platforms timely and correctly.
  • Master the different tools and payment systems.
  • Process manual payments following standard procedures and adhere strictly to controls in place.
  • Critically evaluate, inquire, and challenge any details that do not make sense during the payment input and approval process.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to outgoing wire transfers and document accordingly.
  • Support the business by answering payment queries, locating funds, and expediting issue resolutions.
  • Support compliance and regulatory reporting requirements as needed.
  • Adhere to operational procedures to complete tasks accurately and on time.
  • Prepare for and successfully complete the two examinations required by the U.S. regulatory body, FINRA.

Qualifications include:

  • Proven experience or equivalent expertise in overseeing payment operations across a variety of asset classes.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, ability to focus, and an understanding of and adherence to controls;
  • Exhibit critical thinking skills and the ability to challenge existing processes or assumptions.
  • Advanced proficiency in establishing productive relationships with internal stakeholders, presenting to senior management, and managing change effectively in a dynamic financial environment.
  • Fluent in English;
  • Knowledge of MS Office package (excel specifically)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial market products and a comprehensive understanding of the transaction lifecycle for securitized instruments.
  • Familiarity with the processes and functioning of fund transfers within U.S. domestic markets.
  • Proven ability to build and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; adept at influencing others to drive change and proactively identifying and escalating issues as needed.
  • Possession of an active Series 99 license, certified by FINRA.
