Location Risk & Investment Risk Manager - Vice President
Help shape the future of risk oversight across one of the world's leading asset managers. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine location risk governance with direct investment risk coverage across global strategies and businesses. You will work closely with senior business leaders, portfolio managers, regulators, and risk partners to provide independent oversight, support business growth, and strengthen the firm's risk management framework. The role offers broad exposure to investment products, location governance, regulatory engagement, portfolio analytics, and emerging risk themes across global markets. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of risk analytics, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities that enhance risk transparency and decision-making.
As a Vice President within the APAC Asset Management Risk team, you will serve in a dual-capacity role as both the Taiwan Location Risk Manager and an Investment Risk Manager. You will provide independent oversight of the Taiwan location's risk profile while also covering investment strategies, portfolios, and businesses across one or more asset classes. The role requires close partnership with investment teams, business management, control functions, regulators, and senior management to identify emerging risks, provide independent risk perspectives, and support sound decision-making.
Job responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Risk Manager supporting the Taiwan location governance framework and overall risk management, and partner with senior management and control functions to maintain effective risk governance and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and present risk assessments, reporting, and emerging risks to governance committees, boards, and regulators.
- Lead risk engagement for regulatory examinations, inquiries, and remediation activities.
- Provide risk input into strategic initiatives, new products, and all other organizational changes.
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess implications for the Taiwan business and location.
- Provide independent risk oversight for assigned investment strategies and businesses across asset classes, which may include fixed income, equities, multi-asset, alternatives, liquidity, or quantitative strategies.
- Analyze portfolio risks and evaluate investment, liquidity, counterparty, operational, reputational, and fiduciary risks.
- Conduct portfolio reviews, stress testing, and scenario analysis to identify vulnerabilities and emerging risks.
- Deliver actionable risk insights, independent risk perspectives, and recommendations to portfolio managers and senior leadership.
- Support investment reviews, risk committees, product approvals, and other governance processes.
- Drive innovation through enhanced analytics, automation, data capabilities, and AI-enabled risk management.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in asset management risk, investment risk, market risk, portfolio analytics, investments, or related disciplines.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, investment products, portfolio construction, and risk management concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to assess complex risks, exercise independent judgment, and influence decision-making through effective communication and risk insights.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to senior management and governance forums.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across global teams and business functions.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Experience supporting location governance, board reporting, and regulatory engagement for a global organization.
- Knowledge of Taiwan asset management regulations and local market practices.
- Familiarity with risk analytics such as stress testing, scenario analysis, factor models, VaR, or performance attribution.
- Experience with data and analytics tools such as Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, or similar technologies.
- Interest in automation, AI-enabled analytics, and next-generation risk management capabilities.
