As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Corporate Technology, you play a vital role in an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering reliable, market-leading technology products that are secure, stable, and scalable. As a key technical contributor, you will be responsible for implementing essential technology solutions across diverse technical domains, supporting various business functions to achieve the firm's strategic goals.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Minimum of 8+ years of total experience, with significant experience in software architecture
  • Ability to be hands-on with development tasks (70% of the time) while leading and mentoring a team of developers (30% of the time).
  • Proficiency in Java for backend development.
  • Experience with AWS services for cloud computing and deployment.
  • Frontend development skills with React or Angular.
  • Experience with relational databases(Postgres, Oracle, Aurora etc.)
  • Strong understanding and experience in designing, developing, and deploying microservices.
  • Ability to work closely with architects on both high-level and low-level design aspects.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, SQS, ECS/EKS , S3.
  • Experience with OpenSearch or ElasticSearch for search and analytics capabilities.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Terraform
  • Experience with No-SQL databases
  • Knowledge in leveraging AI tools like Codeium and Copilot to enhance development efficiency and productivity.
