The Lead Data Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping the data strategy and architecture for the whole of AWM. This position requires a deep understanding of data management principles, data modeling, and data integration techniques with the ability to leverage agentic solution to speed delivery. The ideal candidate will have hands on 5+ years of experience in data architecture or relevant equivalent experience, with a proven track record of designing scalable and efficient data solutions.

Job responsibilities

  • Design and implement data architecture solutions that align with business objectives and technology strategies.
  • Develop and maintain data models, data flow diagrams, and data dictionaries to support business processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data systems and platforms.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data architects and data engineers.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in data architecture.
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies and best practices.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of data systems to ensure high availability and scalability.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven improvements and efficiencies.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on Data Architecture and software engineering and relevant 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced knowledge of architecture and one or more programming languages
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Advanced knowledge of one or more software, application, and architecture disciplines
  • Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to recommend the best data architecture solutions for the future state architecture

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data integration or relevant equivalent
  • Strong expertise in database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, MongoDB).
  • Proficiency in data warehouse. Data lake, Lake House, Data Mesh, or Data Fabric architectures.
  • Understanding and/or experience with streaming and/or batch data movement including ELT/ ETL processes and tooling (Informatica, Pentaho, DBT, Glue)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in leading data architecture projects and initiatives.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and practices.
