As a Home Loan Underwriter III in the Home Lending team, you serve as a key decision-maker, applying expert analysis to complex loan applications. You collaborate with advisors and specialists to facilitate efficient loan processing and approvals, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. You help customers achieve or retain homeownership by providing thoughtful solutions and upholding fair lending practices. Job Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite residential mortgage applications, ensuring compliance with lending criteria and risk management standards
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of mortgage servicing processes and credit guidelines to loan decisions
- Collaborate with Home Lending Advisors, Customer Care Specialists, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless processing
- Review and validate financial documentation, including income, assets, and credit reports
- Identify and resolve documentation deficiencies, communicating findings clearly and professionally
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of credit policy changes and regulatory requirements
- Uphold fair lending practices and ensure equitable treatment of all clients
- Mentor and support team members through second reviews, group discussions, and training opportunities
- Prioritize workflows to optimize operational efficiency and meet deadlines
- Consistently achieve productivity, quality, and service level goals
- Deliver exceptional customer service and foster positive relationships throughout the underwriting process
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, or related field
- Demonstrated experience in U.S. residential mortgage processing or underwriting
- Demonstrated expertise in income calculation, credit assessment, and asset analysis
- Thorough understanding of Federal and State regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in mortgage underwriting software and automated underwriting systems (AUS)
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to deliver clear and concise underwriting conditions and decisions
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Commitment to customer service excellence
- Willingness to work night shifts (U.S. hours) and hybrid/in-office as needed

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC guidelines and federal mortgage regulations
- Experience with Conventional Agency and Non-Agency loan amounts
- Proficiency in tax return and balance sheet analysis, cash flow assessment, and self-employment income evaluation
- Knowledge of Mortgage Insurance policies and their application in underwriting
- Experience with a variety of mortgage products
- CSA / Voice Certified
- High energy, resilient, and proactive approach to pipeline development
