The Financial Reporting Associate for Alternative Funds is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reviewing financial statements and reports for a portfolio of alternative investment funds (including hedge funds, private equity, and hybrid funds). This role ensures compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies, while supporting audit processes and collaborating with various stakeholders.
Job responsibilities
- Apply up-to-date product, industry, and market knowledge in specialty areas of financial reporting.
- Contribute to the preparation, review, and submission of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports for alternative investment fund clients and their auditors, supporting regulatory efforts to compile key statistics on domestic and international portfolio positions and trends.
- Prepare, review, and analyze quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial statements for alternative investment funds in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS, Lux GAAP, and other applicable standards, ensuring accuracy and completeness by performing quarter-over-quarter variance analytics.
- Coordinate data collection and quarterly business results with various lines of business, Regulatory Controllers, and reporting teams.
- Assist in the thorough assessment of the issues and outcomes.
- Adhere to proof and control procedures to ensure accurate reconciliation between regulatory filings.
- Adhere to various control procedures and edit checks to ensure the integrity of reported financial results.
- Ensure accurate and complete data submission to the Regulators.
- Interpret and define regulatory requirements and coordinate internal and external policies.
- Establish and manage relationships with the line of business as well as with external regulatory agency constituents through ongoing partnership and dialogue.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts around data quality review and external reporting improvement projects.
- Maintain and update fund accounting records, including capital activity, income allocations, and expense accruals.
- Collaborate with fund managers, operations, tax, and compliance teams to resolve reporting issues and support new fund launches.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements, assessing their impact on financial reporting.
- Assist in process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
- Support ad hoc projects and requests related to financial reporting and fund operations.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 5+ years in a Finance organization with exposure to accounting, financial statements, and/or regulatory reporting, preferably within alternative investments.
- Bachelor's degree required, in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, and investment fund structures.
- Strong skills in time management, problem solving, written and oral communication.
- Team player, with ability to work effectively across diverse functions, locations, and businesses.
- Excellent Excel and computer skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Extremely strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage change and deliver results.
- Strong communication skills - both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with alternative investment funds, regulatory reporting, and fund launches is a plus.
