As an Executive Director in the Global Equities Operations Risk Reduction team, you will lead independent risk and control assessments and help stakeholders mitigate operational risk. You will partner closely with stakeholders and control managers to plan, execute, and document assessments and reports. You will communicate findings clearly, identify improvement opportunities, and support change initiatives that strengthen the control environment. You will help build an inclusive team culture where people are encouraged to ask questions, seek advice, and continually learn.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead the Global Equities Operations Risk Reduction Advisory Team.
  • Survey the Global Equities Operations risk landscape and partner with stakeholders to define mitigation paths.
  • Plan and execute independent risk and control assessments, and document reports in partnership with stakeholders and control managers.
  • Develop testing approaches and evaluate the effectiveness of controls across a broad set of risk areas.
  • Share information frequently, transparently, and effectively with internal and external stakeholders to promote clarity and understanding.
  • Analyse risks and proactively identify vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement.
  • Detail findings and use judgement to provide guidance on the risk and controls environment.
  • Communicate issues clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, to stakeholders.
  • Monitor remediation progress and review improvement opportunities on a regular basis.
  • Influence training priorities to help the broader team stay current on methodology, technology, tools, and relevant industry trends.
  • Partner on change initiatives while promoting an inclusive environment that supports engagement and continual learning.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Extensive experience in Operations, Operational Risk Management, Controls Management, Product Control, or Audit roles within Equities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Equity Operations, including trade management, clearing, settlements, margin and collateral, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Critical thinking and the ability to respond to changes in the work environment with an independent and objective approach.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and risk assessment concepts.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess and challenge controls where necessary.
  • Ability to execute assignments independently with limited supervision and remove obstacles to delivery.
  • Strong listening and collaboration skills, with the ability to align on outcomes, actions, and next steps.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information and present sensitive issues persuasively to management.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience designing risk and control testing approaches and translating results into clear, actionable remediation plans.
  • Proven track record influencing stakeholders through clear, frequent, and transparent communication.
  • Experience driving or supporting operational change initiatives in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a team culture that supports inclusion, engagement, and continuous learning.
  • Ability to identify training needs and help teams stay current on evolving methods, tools, and industry trends.
