External Communications & Public Relations Manager Business Banking

As an External Communications & Public Relations Manager Business Banking within Consumer & Community Banking you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive Public Relations strategy that elevates JPMorganChase's commitment to small businesses nationwide. In addition, you will amplify the firm's impact through proactive media relations, compelling storytelling, and high-visibility coverage of both the firmwide small business initiative and a range of Business Banking experiences and activations. You will also develop and execute Public Relations plans for Business Banking events and experiences-including customer events, activations, and community initiatives to maximize positive media coverage and stakeholder engagement.
Job responsibilities
- Manage the external communications and Public Relations strategy for the firmwide small business initiative, ensuring consistent, high-impact messaging across all channels.
- Craft compelling press materials, story pitches, and thought leadership content that highlight the firm's support for small businesses and the real-world impact of its programs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with national, regional, and local media, proactively securing coverage and managing press inquiries.
- Prepare and brief executives and spokespeople for media engagements, events, and interviews.
- Collaborate with internal partners to ensure message alignment and maximize campaign impact.
- Advise senior leaders on external messaging, media strategy, and reputation management related to small business initiatives and events.
- Track and analyze media coverage, share of voice, and message pull-through to assess the effectiveness of PR efforts and inform future strategy.
- Support and mentor junior communications team members, fostering collaboration and innovation.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- 7+ years of experience in external communications, public relations, or media relations, ideally within financial services or a large, complex organization.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing high-impact Public Relations strategies for major campaigns, events, or initiatives.
- Strong relationships with business, finance, and policy media at the national and local levels.
- Excellent writing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
- Experience preparing and supporting executives for media engagements and public events.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Bachelor's degree required
