As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Consumer & Community Banking Teller Platform team, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.

Job responsibilities

  • Drive the transformation of the Teller platform, migrating from legacy mainframe systems to cloud-native and modern architectures
  • Ensure all modernization activities adhere to the highest standards of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical leadership for mainframe re-platforming, refactoring, and integration with contemporary solutions
  • Develop and manage phased migration plans, minimizing business disruption and aligning with strategic objectives.
  • Oversee coding standards, control obligations, and success metrics such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with business, product, and architecture teams to align modernization efforts with business goals.
  • Assess and manage vendors, tools, and frameworks supporting mainframe migration and modernization.
  • Promote CI/CD, automated testing, agile methodologies, and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Monitor progress, manage risks, and communicate modernization milestones to senior leadership.
  • Architect and implement robust authentication and authorization frameworks for the Teller platform, ensuring secure access and data protection
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure all platform components meet regulatory and internal standards.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • 5 plus years experience leading technologist to solve complex technical challenges
  • Architecture experience with authentication and authorization frameworks
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and peer leaders across business product and technology teams

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Hands-on experience at the code level.
  • Exposure to mainframe modernization technologies and migration strategies
  • Experience with mainframe migration tools (e.g., Micro Focus, IBM z/OS Connect, AWS Mainframe Modernization)
  • Familiarity with Teller or core banking platforms and their integration patterns
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, especially in high-visibility transformation programs
  • Experience architecting and implementing authentication, authorization, and foundational security controls in large-scale platforms
