As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Oversight & Governance Technology organization, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive the development, and implementation of cutting-edge software solutions that align with business goals and regulatory requirements. This role requires a strong leader with exceptional technical expertise, and the ability to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
Job responsibilities
- Lead the strategy and delivery of Trading Surveillance solutions aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Own decisions on team resources, budgets, and tactical operations, including process execution and continuous optimization.
- Architect and deliver scalable, resilient, and efficient systems; champion engineering excellence, secure-by-design, and agile/DevOps best practices.
- Evaluate, select, and integrate emerging technologies to enhance surveillance coverage, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Manage and mentor engineering leaders and teams; build a high-performing, inclusive culture with clear growth paths.
- Identify and mitigate risks across data, models, security, and operations; ensure audit readiness and control compliance.
- Foster strong partnerships with product, compliance, and LOB Technology; drive innovation and continuous improvement on shared objectives

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Solid track record and 10+ years of experience in building large scale data warehouses and enterprise data platforms handling critical data.
- Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
- Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to drive innovation and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Practical cloud native experience
- Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Strong understanding of trading surveillance regulations and compliance, with auditability, lineage, and retention controls built into data workflows.
- Lakehouse/warehousing expertise in Databricks (Delta) and Snowflake, covering data modeling and ETL/ELT for analytical use cases.
- Hadoop ecosystem and real-time processing: Spark Structured Streaming, Hive, and Kafka for low-latency ingestion and transformation.
- Query performance tuning across Hive, SparkSQL, and Oracle using partitioning, pruning, indexing, AQE, and join strategies.
- Java engineering: OOP with Java; Spring Boot and Hibernate/JPA; building scalable REST and XML/RPC services.
- Data architecture: Data Mesh and Data Ponds, governance, cataloging, archival, and enterprise reporting/analytics.
- SDLC and delivery: Agile/iterative methods, CI/CD, testing automation, observability, and scalable solution design.
