Join JPMorgan's Business Control Management team, where you will help provide oversight to the risk and control environment for our Commercial & Investment Bank's, Securitized Products Group (SPG). You will be the first line of defense (1LOD), bridging the gap between Front Office, Operations, and oversight functions like Compliance, Risk, and Audit.

As a Business Control Management Associate, you'll be a trusted control advisor to our Front Office Trading and Banking teams, where you'll be responsible for ensuring the business has a sustainable and disciplined end-to-end control environment. Our team assists in top-down risk analysis, real-time control issue detection, escalation, root cause analysis, and remediation. You will partner with Senior Business Heads, Business Management, Compliance and other stakeholders to ensure that robust controls are established to mitigate regulatory and operational risk, while adhering to internal policies.

The Securitized Products Group originates, underwrites, places and makes markets in asset and mortgage-backed securities ("ABS" and "MBS", respectively), including residential and commercial MBS. It also finances and trades in residential mortgage loans, auto loans, student loans and other consumer-related loans and receivables, commercial real estate loans, charged-off consumer receivables, interests in affordable housing & renewable energy projects. SPG facilitates the investment needs of a wide selection of clients, including banks, insurance companies, hedge funds, private equity sponsors, corporates and asset managers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct end-to-end analysis of business risk, design controls, and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Identify, escalate, and manage the resolution of control deficiencies.
  • Prepare business stakeholders for internal audits and external examinations and conduct walk throughs of existing controls.
  • Create high-quality presentations for Control Committees and track key risk indicators.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for Front Office teams on operational risk and policy adherence.
  • Evaluate the risk and control infrastructure for new products and change proposals, such as the adoption of AI or blockchain technologies.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • 3+ years of experience in financial services industry with background in front office, controls, compliance, middle office, operations, audit, product control, or risk management; or equivalent subject matter expertise in a relevant business related function/operation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to convey complex ideas simply
  • Ability to understand and summarize relevant business data, identifying key messages for Senior Management
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and bring tasks to completion within established timeframes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities

  • Prior knowledge in securitized products including (but not limited to) auto loans and leases, credit cards, student loans, personal loans, residential mortgages and/or commercial products (equipment, vehicle fleets, aircraft, containers, intellectual property) preferred, but not necessary.
