Control Management & Optimization Specialist - Associate

As a Control Management Associate, you will support the business in maintaining a sustainable and disciplined end-to-end control environment. The role focuses on identifying, escalating, and driving timely remediation of control issues, while partnering closely with business stakeholders to strengthen risk awareness and control effectiveness.

The team supports top-down risk analysis, real-time control issue identification, escalation, root cause analysis, and remediation across regional programs.

The primary focus areas of the role include:

  • Third-Party Oversight (TPO) / Outsourcing programs,
  • Process and reporting automation for regional initiatives, and
  • Project management to plan, coordinate, and deliver control optimization initiatives.
  • Job Responsibilities

    • Partner with key stakeholders to perform end-to-end assessments of the business risk and control environment, identifying material gaps, control weaknesses, and root causes.
    • Assess control design and operating effectiveness, ensuring controls are appropriately aligned to a proactive risk and control culture and supported by sound change management practices.
    • Perform ongoing analysis of program data (e.g., KRIs/KPIs) and produce ad hoc reporting to support business decision-making and regional programs.
    • Review the end-to-end regional outsourcing process, including activities delegated to vendors, regulatory and internal requirements, and current practices, identifying process and control gaps (no direct vendor negotiation or engagement).
    • Lead and execute initiatives to improve regional control processes, including managing process improvement and optimization projects.
    • Design and implement workflow and reporting automation using tools such as Alteryx or similar platforms; perform advanced data manipulation and automation using Excel to reduce manual effort.
    • Enhance regional reporting capabilities by gathering stakeholder requirements and implementing targeted improvements.

    Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (Finance, Economics, Technology, Data Analytics, or related fields).
    • 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry, with exposure to process optimization/automation, control management, quality assurance, operational risk, or compliance; or equivalent relevant business experience.
    • Experience with Third-Party Oversight / Outsourcing / Vendor Management programs, including risk assessments, due diligence, control testing, ongoing monitoring, and issue remediation.
    • Strong data analysis skills, with advanced Excel proficiency, including macros.
    • Solid project management capabilities, including scope definition, workplan development, milestone tracking, RAID management (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies), stakeholder communication, and executive-level reporting.
    • Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives under tight deadlines, with strong prioritization, coordination, and execution skills.

    Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

    • Experience with data visualization, process, and workflow automation tools such as Alteryx, Power Platform, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
    • Strong analytical and communication skills with a high ownership mindset, enabling the interpretation of complex data and processes to proactively identify, escalate, and drive remediation of control and risk issues across business and vendor stakeholders.
