Asset Management - Japan Business Platform - Vice President
Japan Product Administration is a core pillar of our Asset Management business in Japan.
As a Vice President in Japan Business Platform team, you will be the accountable owner for end-to-end governance, operational oversight, and delivery of Japan fund ranges, combining Product Administration and Fund Accounting into a single integrated platform.. You will lead a team of seven professionals, ensuring our funds operate in line with offering documentation, local regulatory obligations, and firmwide governance standards, while delivering accurate valuations, robust controls, and high-quality stakeholder and client outcomes.
This is a high‑visibility leadership role partnering with Investments, Sales, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Control Managers to deliver resilient fund governance and high‑quality client service for Japanese investors. You will translate global best practices into Japan-specific execution and drive continuous improvement across governance, NAV oversight, anti-dilution, data quality, and change delivery. This role requires a confident, outcomes-driven people leader with strong executive presence and stakeholder management skills, able to mobilize teams and represent Japan in regional and global agendas.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of seven across Product Administration and Fund Accounting, setting clear objectives, performance expectations, and a strong risk-and-control culture.
- Define the Japan platform vision, operating model, and priorities, including capacity planning, coverage, and succession to ensure operational resiliency.
- Establish disciplined operating routines (e.g., ops reviews, governance calendars, KPI/incident management) to drive collaboration, accountability, and service quality.
- Own the governance model for Japanese unit trust funds, including committee coverage for distributions, fund risk ratings, NAV/fair valuation, and liquidity/anti-dilution decisioning.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for fund policy and governance matters, ensuring timely decisions, clear documentation, and appropriate committee escalation.
- Provide senior oversight of NAV production and fund accounting delivery to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and well-controlled execution aligned to local requirements and firm standards.
- Lead valuation governance, including fair value determinations, pricing exceptions, tolerance breaches, and event-driven escalations.
- Own local anti-dilution tool governance and execution, monitoring triggers, approvals, MI, and stakeholder communication to protect unit holders.
- Be accountable for fund data quality and management information (static data, regulatory attributes, fees/expenses, distributions, risk ratings), driving controls, lineage, remediation, and reporting/analysis.
- Represent the platform in internal/external audits and testing, partner with Legal/Compliance/Risk/Control, and lead regulatory change, market practice evolution, and local/global programs-driving continuous improvement and global-to-local standardization.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in the financial industry, ideally with exposure to asset management product management, governance, or business management or fund accounting.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience (direct or matrix), with ability to manage performance, develop talent, and lead through change.
- Solid understanding of products and business management functions in asset management and/or related financial services industries.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident engaging senior stakeholders across Investments, Sales, Operations, Legal/Compliance, Risk, and Control Managers.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguity with shifting priorities, timelines, and demands; strong judgment and escalation discipline.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional partnership skills; able to influence without authority across local, regional, and global teams.
- Fluent in written and spoken Japanese and English.
