APAC Markets Product Controller - Associate
Seize the opportunity to join the Product Control team which is responsible for independent Profit & Loss and Risk validation and reporting, US external reporting, balance sheet and capital management along with ensuring accuracy and integrity of the financial statements. The role offers the chance to work with a global team and make a difference in the Global Finance team and Macro Markets business. The role will be the primary face off for the trading desk in both Australia and Japan.
As a Markets Product Controller - Associate,you will be responsible for providing support to financial controllers and trading desks to ensure P&L, balance sheet and month end close procedures are done correctly and accurately. The role will put you at the forefront of changing requirements, business initiatives and an ever-changing market environment. Intellectual curiosity, technical expertise and innovative focus on effective processes and controls will ensure you are a great fit for this team. This role will offer the opportunity to develop across all the functions that are provided by F&BM in the Markets franchise. The ideal candidate will show a propensity to learn and develop knowledge around balance sheet, liquidity as well as an understanding of Capital to support the business most effectively in the region.
Job responsibilities
- Produce, analyze and oversee daily P&L and Risk for APAC Rates market making desk. Have complete understanding of the drivers and work with middle office, technology, quantitative research teams to ensure P&L and Risk are correctly reported.
- Ensure correct risk sensitivity is sent to Value at Risk and provide commentary on ensuing back testing results.
- Perform month-end close process, including ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial books and records in collaboration with Financial Control Group, working with Valuation Control group to ensure valuation adjustments are correctly recorded, partnering with Legal Entity Controllers for appropriate FX exposure management as well as ensuring accuracy of books and records for every legal entity.
- Provide Daily, weekly, monthly commentary to senior management and for clean P&L on VAR breaches.
- Review and qualitatively validate Line of Business inputs into quarterly US external reporting along with providing meaningful trending analysis and commentary based on risk as well as GAAP line for trading results, linking trading revenues to desk strategies and changes in market conditions.
- Balance sheet and risk-weighted asset reporting & analysis in line with Corporate & Investment Bank minimum standards. Ascertain a thorough understanding of the end-to-end technology platform, trade lifecycle and associated feeds/downstream systems.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the end-to-end control environment. Ensure adherence to internal and external policies/regulation including Regulation K, Antitrust compliance.
- Partner with teams across APAC, EMEA & NA and across functions like Front Office, Business Management, Middle Office, Technology, Quantitative Research, Legal Entity Control, Financial Control & Other Finance functions
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related area.
- 5+ years of working experience in Product Control function of a trading business, Financial Control, Accounting, or similar role in Markets business in Financial Services Industry.
- Minimum 3 years of working experience on comprehensive Profit & Loss reporting requirement under Volcker rule, risk concepts, transfer pricing, FX exposure management and ability to connect the linkage across risk groups.
- Demonstrate an understanding of system flows from trade cycle perspective, trade booking to risk management system to P&L & Risk to Sub-ledger and General Ledger.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a constant changing environment.
- Ability to work and partner effectively with global teams in different time zones and flexible to work outside regular working works on critical business days if required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to identify and solve problems independently.
- Strong desktop/spreadsheet/database skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Good understanding of risk management, revenue reporting systems and end to end infrastructure.
- Knowledge of interest rates and FX products.
- Experience in accounting of Bonds, Repo and interest rates derivative products.
- Ability to challenge status quo and promote efficiency and innovation of processes
- VBA skill
